Sinclair is a smoke screen |
|
We are not discussing Wednesday night's debate, the Oil for Food scandal, the deaths in Iraq, the failing economy, etc. We know that Rove is the master of re-directing a discussion from the important to the lame and silly. Sinclair's ham-handed attempts at this are ridiculous. I would not be surprised if they knew they couldn't get away with it and would voluntarily pull it themselves before airing. In the mean time the real stories are sliding back under the radar.
All of our protestations is just free publicity for Sinclair and their affiliates. I'm not suggesting letting up on the broadcast plans but let's don't lose sight of the real problems.

That's how many people Sinclair reaches. That's worth fighting over. They must be stopped from using their ownership of a media company that broadcasts over OUR airwaves for political purposes. It's at the very root of what we're fighting, corporate media. If we can win this one, it is a very very BIG win.
Regardless, we have to learn to support each other in these fights. Just call a sponsor. Call your local KFC and Taco Bell. Tell them you're not buying anymore of their food if they don't contact their management and tell them to stop advertising on Sinclair. Just add yourself to the ripple that turns into a tide. It only takes a minute. Then go on about whatever you think is important.

11. I agree with your suggestions, I have already sent a half a dozen |
|
emails to sponsors, signed the petition, written networks, etc. My point is just don't forget the other stuff, too. We have spent days wondering what was under Georgie's jacket, if he had a bug in his ear, Air National Guard, swift boat jerks, etc.
Bushy's job performance is so dismal I think Rove would stoop to any level to keep from people talking about it. We need to stay on point and get this bastard out of our White House.
25% of the viewers is very significant, so is 100% of all citizens knowing the truth.

12. We need to multi-task |
|
That's what you're saying. Okay, I agree with that. We do tend to get lost on some of the truly important issues. Right now, stem cell research and the energy bill could be hit as well. That's what Kerry is stumping on and we should be doing that in addition to Sinclair. You're right, I agree.

4. Very good point but both the debate and Sinclair are important |
|
I think they are desperate and after the debate they will resort to any means to throw the election--including using Sinclair. We need to do what we can to participate in boycotts or writing campaigns to let Sinclair, and CNN for that matter, know how we feel about their biased coverage.

why on earth would Rove want to divert attention from that phony story?
(the story itself isn't phony, but the RW hyping of it is pure Rove).

In a speech over the weekend Kerry said 'I've got your back". Now it's our turn to say to Kerry "We've got your back". Kerry needs to concentrate on winning this debate. That's his job.
We need to do what we can to head off any distractions. In an election this close, this film could do a lot of damage. This is our chance , sitting here behind the keyboard, to maybe help make a difference.

13. We can and must stop the broadcasts. Let's boycott and file complaints |
|
Our argument should be that the show is based on lies.
