Error on www.electoral-vote.com

the current map (10/11/04 at 3pm edt) or vote totals have to be in error ... here's why:

the total count shows Kerry with 280 electoral votes ... the map also shows an additional 20 electoral votes as exactly tied ... that totals 300 electoral votes ...

now, if there are a total of 538 e.v. available and we subtract the 300 e.v. from above, that leaves bush with a maximum possible vote count of 238 ...

bush's vote count, however, is shown as 254 ... the numbers or the map must be wrong ... it looks like the bush vote count includes both Arkansas and Minnesota although the map shows both of those states as tied ... his correct total based on the map should be 238 ...

5. They try to get too fancy with the popup menus

that always seems to introduce compatibility issues. But the polling data is good (usually)

maybe the popups are causing the browser problems others have cited ... i suppress all popups and haven't had any trouble viewing the electoral map ...

9. When you mouseover the map

boxes pop up and give you the breakdown, and the most recent polls.

No. 1 cause of Explorer crashes these days seems to be popup blockers.

13. I've never had a problem with it either on DSL or dial-up. In the morning

though, it seems to be going thru maintenance or updates. So I usu. access it later in the day.

3. that map's been screwy off and on....

last week, it had Kerry with all 538 votes. As of a minute ago, you couldn't reach the site, so it's probably down for corrections.

email the guy who runs it. I sent him a correction once and he sent me a nice email response thanking me and had it fixed the next day.
