Mark Hyman, host of the regular editorial feature on Sinclair stations,
The Point.
He's also a vice president of corporate relations for Sinclair. He's quoted today as saying the criticisms of their airing of the anti-Kerry ad/film are "absolutely absurd." (
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-10-11-sinclair_x.htm)
He says "It's the news. It is what it is. We're reporting the news." He equates it with reporting a car-bombing in Iraq.
Well, here's some of what he considers "news", from The Point archives:
(
http://www.newscentral.tv/thepoint/editorial.shtml)
Kerry and the Killing (9/13/04)
Kerry and the Purple Heart (9/14/04)
Kerry and the Winter Soldier Investigation (9/15/04)
Kerry and the Three Weeks of Protest (9/16/04)
Kerry and the Navy (9/19/04)
Kerry and the Oath (9/20/04)
Kerry and the Medals (9/21/04)
Kerry and the Communists (9/22/04)
Kerry and the Numbers (9/23/04)
Bit of an obsession, hmmnnn? Their archives don't pull up the articles for me, but you can search and find cached versions of some of them. They're full of quotes like:
"Killing a wounded man while he retreated from battle is not an action that most servicemen would brag about. But then again, most servicemen would not return home and attack the very country they were supposed to fight for. And that’s the Point."
"Kerry has a lifetime of experience in foreign policy. Unfortunately, it is a lifetime of supporting Communist forces opposed to the U.S. ... John Kerry may make a good president. Just not for the U.S. And that's The Point." Well, I guess that's just "the news", isn't it?
