A Really Wierd Thing in Debate #2 |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 06:24 PM by DemocracyInaction
Go figure this one. I wasn't able to watch the first half hour of the debate. Watched the second half hour with my husband on one of the regular networks. After he went to bed, I watched the third half hour on cnnfn which had a graph across the screen measuring the responses of men (blue line) and women (yellow) as the candidates spoke.
When Bush flipped back to "Iraq/Terrorism" in that third portion even when the topics were 'domestic', you should have seen the reaction. As he talked about deterimination, leadership, etc., the MEN's line dropped like a lead balloon. They didn't believe the son-of-a-bitch. It turned them off. The WOMEN's line went twittering to the top----they liked it.
When the subject was "right to choose" and the court appointments, etc., the MEN's line took an instant jump and spike upwards as Kerry talked about protecting the right, etc.. The WOMEN's line went along at flat line and then fell downward. The men were concerned and supportive of a woman's right to choose. The women were marching back to the cave.
Like I said....go figure. And doesn't that really give you pause to wonder exactly what message is playing with the genders instead of what is 'suppose' to play with them. Odd.

So in essence, he's not connecting with the people he's trying to reach on those particular issues. Intriguing.

3. I should clarify a moment |
|
The women dropped and the men went up when Kerry was talking about protecting a women's right to choose. The women didn't like it. The men supported Kerry's position.

2. Yeah but it all depends on the people being monitored. I'm sure |
|
this was being used by CNN or whomever to pimp that "security moms" love georgie! BTW, WTF is a security mom? Does anyone know one? I sure as hell don't.
Also what the hell were they monitoring? Heart rate? Sweat? Respondents pushing a button?

4. Hubby and I watched most of the debate on CNNfn |
|
and for the most part, the women's line stayed flat throughout. There didn't seem to be much fluctuation for them on any issues, domestic or international.
The men's line did fluctuate, and it was far more "positive" for Kerry than for boosh. On several occasions, as soon as boosh opened his mouth, the men's line veered sharply into negative territory.
The best reaction, IMHO, was the facial expression and body language of the woman who asked the last question, re three mistakes. That lady did NOT like what she got from mr. boosh.

5. Tansy---interesting that it was going on throughout the night!! |
|
Real interesting. Oh, about the lady with the 'mistakes' question----I felt that she and guy with the environment question were definitely out to stick it to Bush. Obviously, Bush sucks on the environment and has nothing to run on. And, obviously, much was made about Bush at that news conference where he couldn't find anything he did wrong. By the way, in the first half hour did you sense any 'set up' questions for either Bush or Kerry?? I didn't particularly see them in the second half hour.
