1. The media lost interest in it. Funny how they do that.
Hersh was on Democracy Now! and Jon Stewart though. It's too bad. That issue should be addressed in the debates. Not like * would tell the truth though, eh?

10. oh please
he wrote a book that included more information.

...about articles which he had already written.

the book IS mostly those articles, plus additional information that didn't fit within the context of The New Yorker assignments.

I've about had it with dubious comments like yours. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

The New Yorker didn't publish all the information he has because, Hersh said, they felt it was so humiliating for the prisoners, they didn't want to subject them to the full psychological horror of it.

Hersh isn't always perfect, but he's performing a useful service for this nation by trying to tell some truth.

I hope someone will publish more of the pictures now that the incident has had its 15 minutes of fame in the U.S., because you can be sure it's something that is affecting our situation in the middle east.

16. C'mon! He's a reporter and a writer. It's his job to get the information
out there. What better way than to write a book?

Sy Hersh is my personal hero.

5. I assume he has a family, and was able to come to an agreement that

would keep them from being harmed.

The level of outrage evinced by the general public regarding his work was sufficiently muted that more stringent measures were not required.

9. No interest from Media or American Public.
This is now a story that was covered. The few guilty were punished and it's over. Nobody is interested in hearing or seeing unpleasantry. It was shocking at first but now has been shoved down the memory hole. The Media is on to the next story that will keep their advertisers throwing money at them.

8. Why is it up to Hersh?
It's not "his" responsibility to do anything more than he has. He told us about it, now what are the 'merkin people going to do?

11. I'm not saying it's "up to him." A lot of people here seemed to have
an expectation that more was forthcoming from him prior to the election, possibly bombshell photos/revelations. Doesn't seem to have happened, is all.

13. I've started reading his book
Chain of Command. I'm about 30 pages in and am absolutely livid! Go get it and read it. This damn administration knew in 2002 that torture was happening, had been told and ignored it..of course, cause they ordered it. I'll probably be ready to storm Washington by the time I'm finished with the book.

15. I dunno
maybe people expect another expose such as the one by Woodward and Berstein.

That was a real expose, eh?

Although Hersh has published, it and hem, does not seem to have the energy to make it big.

I don't know why this is--something within the personality?

Whatever--Hersh is not making waves at all in the way it should count.

This stuff takes a lot of time and hard work.

His book is solid, btw. I rarely buy hardcover, but I splurged on this one and wasn't disappointed.
