Bizarre CNN Newsnight opening - Aaron Brown compared the * misquote
of Kerry from the NYTimes Magazine (reducing terrorism to a nuisance) with Kerry's use of *'s words with Matt Lauer saying that you can't win the war on terrorism - Brown completely missed the point! * flipped from his statement to stating (even at today's rally) that they will and can win the war....yet the Repukes twisted Kerry's words and used them out of context as an attack.

Just goes to show you how unequal this is.....disgusting.

18. It works better now than Pravda did.
Bob McChesney mentions this in the OUTFOXED movie. The current U.S. media propaganda system works so well because the people don't realize they are being propagandized.

Of course many of DUers and like minded people do, but the vast majority of the public have no idea that their media lies to them 90% of the time. In fact they wouldn't believe you if you told them anyway.

2. But didn't John King...
say that Candy Crowley has a quote from Brent Scrowcroft where he uses the word nuisance in relation to the war on terror??? Kerry better blast that quote from Kingdom come!!! I'm so sick of Bush twisting everything Kerry says...they're still using that global threat thing...it's so disgusting!!!

8. Here's a quote from Scowcroft:
Scowcroft is confident that the war on terrorism can be won, in the same way the war on organized crime can be won. "There will not be a treaty signed aboard the battleship Missouri, but we can break its back so that it is only a horrible nuisance and not a paralyzing influence on our societies."

3. It's like when the news media tried to say
that move-on's ads were the moral equivalent of the swiftboat liars' ads.

The media really has to twist stuff around to try to make it look like the Dems are as evil as the Repubs.

Disgusting, just like you say.

7. Kerry gave us his definition of 'winning' the war on terror
I think a lot of people concede that we can never 100% defend against freak attacks under the guise of terrorism. Kerry's plan seems to be to make us so safe again that we won't live under the worry of terrorism, which does get to the root word: terror.

Kerry wants to make terrorism back into a nuisance. Good.

Let them spin it. Kerry was defining himself with the word and that can be used to his advantage.

15. Write letters and say so
John Kerry is telling us how he is going to win this war, Bush is just saying it's an unconventional war that's going to last for years and years and probably not be over in our lifetimes and maybe not won at all. John Kerry has a plan, Bush only has fear to try to keep people cowering in fear and dependent on the "daddy" party.

9.  Brown is a "Quisling"! Trust No One in the Major Media.
As students of history may know, Quisling is the last name of the puppet president of Norway installed by the Nazi's after they defeated and occupied that country. The word is synonymous with traitor.

10. Brown needs to read Halperin's ABC memo. If Bush is running only on lies
and you want to report on them, it doesn't mean you have to pretend that Kerry's exaggerations or mistatements rise to the same level of outrageousness as the core of Bushs' campaign.

11. Aaron Brown sucks.
He's not the sharpest pencil in the box.

I don't think he's overtly biased, just stupid and easily manipulated by the RW spin industry.

13. I think Candy Crowley de-nutted him too...
... just like she did to Blitzer.

The "Love Boat" strikes again!

PS: I wonder if she's related to Monica Crowley?

16. I believe that Aaron Brown
after years on ABC WNN in the middle of the night, is enjoying his large paycheck and wishes to contine to ber able to send his kids to provate school, etc. He showed real humanity in the old days - those of us who are insomniacs recall his terrific use of language and intellectualism, about 1-2 levels short of Charlie Rose, but bright nonetheless - like the guy played by Albert Brooks on Broadcast NEws (the film).

17. Once again the SCLM is trying to be "balanced"
When the Beltway Blowhards start this BS about how both sides are dishonest -- making Shrub's pathological lying the equivalent of an alleged slight exaggeration from Kerry -- I just roll my eyes.

Reminds me of someone pointing to two people -- one a serial killer, the other someone who once shoplifted a CD when they were 15 -- and screaming, "They're both just as bad! They're both criminals!"

20. Brown is a limp noodle
He doesn't challenge anything anybody says. He just goes through the motions of an interview. His news value is pathetic.
