Kerry on Christopher Reeve
Don't know if this has been posted here yet.

Kerry on Christopher Reeve
John Kerry released the following statement today on the death of Christopher Reeve:

“Today, we lost a man who was truly America’s hero – Christopher Reeve. Teresa and I were privileged to have known him as a friend and were deeply saddened to learn of his death. We send our prayers to his loving wife and steadfast partner Dana, his children, and the entire Reeve family. He was an inspiration to all of us and gave hope to millions of Americans who are counting on the life-saving cures that science and research can provide. He met every challenge with a courage and character that broke new ground in this struggle. As Christopher once said, ‘So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.’ Because he had the strength to carry this cause, I know one day that we will realize that inevitable dream.”

5. I'll never understand it, either
Especially after reading the post on the thread about the Freepers' reaction to the news of his death, claiming, "The timing is suspicious!" These people are not human, I mean it. As if Chris Reeves' death was brought about for political purposes. :grr:

7. Just to be fair, the same things were said here when Reagan died.
Maybe we weren't quite as vile. I didn't see any here that said Reagan was in hell, like I saw on FR about Reeve. But we ceratinly had plenty of skepticism about the timing.

13. Chris Reeve didn't make people poor and go hungry.
Ray-Gun did. There's a world of diference between the deaths of a very wicked man and a very brave man who wouldn't accept having machines do his living for him.

I never knew C. Reeve said that about dreams becoming inevitable. Very inspirational.

4. That's Sweet! I was really saddened, myself..
I was just asking about Christopher when I saw Michael J Fox's great commercial for Kerry.

I remember Chris Reeve on that cnn show, talk back live in 2000 speaking out for Gore because he would better our progress.

6. Wow, great statement
It says all of the things I have in my heart for Christopher in ways I could not convey it. Reading it, it was So Right On!
I was so crushed to hear of his passing this morning.
The way that Kerry phrases it, makes me feel better.
Good Journey, Christopher, good journey.

8. I was very sad and shocked this morning when I awoke to find out
he had died as well.

Kerry has such class...a far cry from the cowardly schmuck who sits in the White House...but not for long!? :)

9. I can't imagine how Christopher's friends and family feel right now.
There will be a huge hole in their hearts now that he is gone. I've followed Christopher's journey since 1995 with a special interest and sympathy because just a couple weeks after he suffered his injury in a fall from his horse, I had a fall from my horse that was eerily similar. After the fall, I lay in the middle of a gravel road unable to move any part of my body, watching my horse run off towards home and wondering when a car would come over the hill and run over me because the driver wouldn't be able to see me in time. I kept trying to move my arms and legs, and finally after several minutes began to move them one at a time then finally coordinate them enough to stand up and finally begin to walk towards home myself, blood streaming down my back from a head wound. Several months later I had delicate spinal cord surgery because of the damage to my spine at the level of C2 to C7 and have since been able to ride my horse again. I've always had a place in my heart for Christopher because it could as well have been me as him. I admired his bravery and his positive attitude and all the hard work he did to overcome his disability. His spirit soars now even though his body couldn't here on earth.

10. Nice sentiment
I just hope he doesn't bring it up on Wed. night...that's too far past his death and will be seen as a pure political stunt.

12. If the subject of stem cell research comes up then I think
a brief mention would not be out of order, i.e. that this was an issue that Chris Reeve fought for and brought new hope to all those with similar injuries.

I've always admired Chris, and having taken a few headers off a horse myself I always thought "there but for the grace..."

I know that Chris is once more walking and riding beautiful horses.
