In the end, will this election adhere to history?
For some reason, I have this nagging feeling that in the end, this election will turn out to be a fairly standard event -- regardless of what people say about the "post 9/11" mindset.

Clearly things have changed during the past 4 years, but this is still an election with an INCUMBENT President with a bad economy and a lousy approval rating. Moreover, this INCUMBENT President doesn't even attempt to discuss his own record on the campaign trail or in the debates, and he is reduced simply to attacking his challenger.

Bush can attack Kerry all he wants, but I truly believe that on 11/2, the election will revert back to being a referendum on the incumbent. And we all know what will happen then . . .

1. I think Kerry's going to win this.
Bush's position is just indefensible.

2. I Hope You Are Right
...but never before has one side had:

near-total control of the press :-(
such blatant support from the churches :-(
the ability to spy on the other side with complete impunity :-(
control of the VOTING MACHINEZ! :-( :-( :-(

Never before has an administration brought us recession, inflation, corruption,
record deficits, and war, all at once, and still remained almost even in the polls.
If this were a normal election, Kerry would have a double-digit lead.

I don't think there will be anything normal about this election.

3. Adhering to history
No President who won the Electoral vote but not the popular vote ever won re-election.

4. The question is, what will this cabal do after Kerry wins? That could
be what makes history.
