How will the weapons buy-back in Iraq affect */Kerry Debate |
|
Is that common practice in a war to give money to the enemy for their weapons? Anyone....

Apparently Iraq is part of our "coalition" now. So isn't the U.S. just as responsible for this action. And is it politically motivated?

2. not at all. The debate is entirely on domestic issues...but you're right |
|
about buying off the "insurgents" and just let them go after they killed all our guys. I would think conservatives would be furious about this, being all pro-military and shit.

Local police often do an amnesty day or something similar in an attempt to get the "illegal" guns off the street. I don't see the effort there being any more successful than it is here. We get some guns off the streets today, and there is someone there the next day selling new ones. We give them some money for some guns today, and someone will smuggle new ones in to get that new money from them tomorrow.
Same shit, different location.

this is what? the 4th or 5th "deal" with done with the "Mahdi Army"?
Furious George might try and use it as "proof" of his never, ever, ever, EVER making a mistake, but he'll either be whining or shouting or being completely incoherent so it won't matter.
George W. Bush, your clock is up.

11. Maybe they should try a suicide bomber buy back. |
|
Instead of blowing up your body. Come in we'll give you money for it.
Is this a war or not?

13. Didn't this originally come up like a year ago? |
|
Don't I seem to recall the AK-47 buy-back first being raised like a year ago when the insurgency first started boiling up?
Here's a question: I'm an enraged adolescent Iraqi with several relatives dead in bombings or collateral damage from other raids, all enflamed by a mixture of nationalism and jihad to oust the Americans. But hey, they'll give you fifty bucks or whatever for yer AK, dude! Think I'm going to go for it? Whole thing sounds like a joke. The nature of insurgency is that the only way to win against one is not to get involved trying to win against one in the first place. That the nitwits in charge of this ludicrous imperial enterprise couldn't see that from the outset is the clearest possible evidence of their inability to learn from history and their ineligibility to run the country.
