My neighbor took down his Bush/Cheney sign today
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 11:18 PM by zulchzulu
I walked by and saw my neighbor messing around with the lawn and asked where the Bush sign was. He and I had joked about how my sign and his basically neutralized the vote. He said his wife and her friends saw F 9/11 and "he saw a little bit of it" and decided that most of the neighbors probably have seen it now.

So he decided "it was best to put the sign in the garage". I told him that if it would make great starter paper for the fireplace. He laughed impulsively before he suddenly realized what I said.

Poor guy.

1. That is pretty great.
Just getting him to feel awkward about supporting Bush - and perhaps even vote for Kerry.

4. Overall, the guy and his family are wonderful people
He had told me the church people (he's a practicing Catholic) said Bush was the only vote he should go for.

There is hope that he sees the light. Not the lies.

16. Tell him Cardinal Ratzinger
Head honcho on teaching said that in a secular society, one should take all issues into account. Tell him to go to www.votingcatholic.org and he might be surprised at how Bu$h's stances are against most of the Pope's and Catholic Bishops': capital punishment, unjust/pre-emptive war, environment, social justice, etc.
The good cardinal said: if you only voted for a candidate because he was pro-choice, it would be wrong, however, taking other things into account might outweigh his stance on one issue.

3. It's sad that he thinks he's safer with it down but doesn't know he'd be
safer without *.

7. I'm chiseling away for he and his friends
He's seen my Kerry merch in windows, on cars and when I load up the car for table for Kerry for over a year and thought I was nuts.

Again, there is hope. Be relentless!

5. Bush doesn't represent traditional conversative values
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 11:16 PM by chookie
He is a radical, an extremist.

The only people who believe the Iraq war is going well are the Armageddonist death cultists among us -- most people are iffy about it at best, many oppose it.

Many feel the squeeze, and wonder why Bush is doing what he is doing.

Sane Republicans are turning away from His Chimperial Majesty. Only a minority of Americans are brainwashed -- don't give up on the rest.

Bush?orChimp?

6. that's a lot better than...
The fact that my neighbor, or perhaps a passerby, took down my K/E signs. But I have a new set now, loaded with cayenne pepper. If they mess with these signs, they are going to experience a strong burning sensation as soon as they touch an eye.

14. sounds good
I wonder how much those motion detector thingies cost.

I'm thinking of camping out down near the main road to catch the bastard. I wish I owned a shotgun. I wouldn't actually shoot the person, but I'd love to see the fear.

Kerry/Edwards sign
...some hours volunteering

Walgreens window motion detector

Seeing a freeper rolling on your lawn going deaf trying to steal your sign

... priceless

dog or cat knocks it.... Last night the wind blew a house for sale sign into my car windshield. Thank god it glanced off and didn't scratch or crack the windshield.

22. Motion detectors shut off after the motion stops
At least with the cheapie Walgreens motion detector, th thing shuts up after you stop moving it around.

But id you try to pick up the sign with it on, it makes a LOT of noise.

13. I'd bet he ends up
switching his vote to Kerry. He already has enough doubt about * to take his sign down, and if he talks to you some more about it, he could possibly decide to go for Kerry. Especially if he watches the rest of the movie.

15. I'm all for getting out the vote
..but if he cannot bring himself to vote for JE04, he can do us a service by simply staying home. For the life of me, I cannot understand his logic, and while he may be nice, it is obvious he didn't get much of his Catholic education from the rigorous Jesuits.

Bush killed 143 or so live adults by lethal injection, with glee in at least one (please don't kill me) case--what part of Thou Shalt Not Kill does he fail to understand? Kerry is NOT PRO abortion, he simply refuses to tell people not of his faith how to live their lives (Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's).

I despair at the stupidity of some Americans.

21. Agreed
I need to shed with the fellow and maybe leave off some issue papers and he will suddenly get with the program.

Like many people, he is utterly so busy with the kids playing sports and all that to really focus on what this election means. This Saturday, his two daughters play two different games (and he goes) and he also has to do a bunch of pre-winter crap around the house.

He's a Faux Snooze watchin' dude who bats over to ESPN...fortunately Air America is playing around here on the FM dial and he seems to be more open politically as of late.

Many are like him in America. Too busy to really follow the ball and too easily willing to believe Faux Snooze.

Wow. They have great graphics and the news chicks with whore hair and haltertops don't hurt either.

Best Story ever.

Especially before I go to bed. Thanks so much for a hell of a story. I talked to a friend today and his parents rented the thing a few days ago and they hat Bush now.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the movie is having an effect. I hope many more see it before the election.

And IIRC you live in WI right? That's the most volatile of all Gore's states.

24. Please don't use political signs for fire starter
A lot of signs, especially the fold over ones are made out of polycoated cardboard. This is basicly a white board stock covered with a thin film of plastic. Nasty stuff if you burn it.
