Finally! Some campaign season fun. NameTheOctoberSurprise.com
Perinneal New York candidate Mark Green has found a cute way to boost himself. He's running a contest to Name the October Surprise at his new website, appropriately called "nametheoctobersurprise.com." Entries must be no more than 100 words long written under a subject line of no more than five words. Here's my entry:

Re: PATRIOT Act prevents terrorist attack

Damn 5-word limit! How can I predict the apocalypse with a haiku?!

Three to five days before Halloween, controversial provisions in the Patriot Act will enable law enforcement officers to announce that they have broken up a terrorist cell and prevented a major attack on US soil. Had it gone forward, the terrorists' targets would have been governors of three swing states. The threat, dealt with weeks before, has been kept secret for "security reasons."

In a particularly cruel twist of fate, AG Ashcroft will reveal that the ringleader of the terror cell is a personal injury trial lawyer.

See? Paranoid fun for the whole family!

4. It is an interesting defense
Certainly worth putting effort into, they more they realize that everyone is expecting something from them, they more desperate they will become. They can run.... woops..

btw does anyone know where this info can be found?
"On Wednesday, September 30th, we'll announce preliminary results - e.g., several of the most interesting submissions as well as the volume of similar submissions per surprise."

6. Terror threat
Would they have the balls to issue a highly likely terror threat for certain identified polling sites on Nov. 2. Maybe strong dem. precincts in battle ground states. A few in Ohio, some counties in Florida, maybe a few precincts in Penn? It would take a lot of balls, but they may be desperate.

7. that would take huge stones, however...
... it would blow up in their faces so bad. Remember all the hullabaloo over the terror threats in NYC right on top of the RNC? Or the HVT "capture" for the DNC?

There's a sick side of me that would find it really funny that a terrorist threat on Election Day would flop.

10. Bush Invades Cuba
"Terrorists" launch a rocket attack from Cuba on Gitmo. Declaring Cuba a terrorist state, Bush launches an invasion. His goals are regime change, freedom for the people of Cuba and the expansion of liberty. Oh yeah, and since the assault will be launched from South Florida, voting there will be postponed.
