5 Minutes for Kerry

My newly political daughter-in-law stopped by on her way to work this morning to tell me there was an old guy standing out by the road just down the street from her house holding up a *Bush/Cheney sign.

I said, "oh, Hell, no." and grabbed the Kerry sign she'd brought me from a Kerry rally, asked her for 5 minutes, and we were out the door.

Don't know what the *B/c guy made of the intrusion -I ran out of the house wearing my reading glasses and couldn't see a thing. But I stood, for about 5 minutes, on the side of a morning rush-hour road holding up the Kerry sign for passing traffic while my dil waited for me in her car on a side road.

What a great way to start the day. Just hope she wasn't late to work and that nobody noticed I was out there barefoot :D.

5. I'm giving kudos to my dil.

Before I took a group of family to see Fahrenheit 911, it wouldn't even have been mentioned for fear I'd go off on a rant.

Now, she's attending rallies and out there with me.

Maybe a few hundred people saw it, so it wasn't a huge thing - Sure do wish I could have seen the expression on the *B/c guy's face, though.

Got quite a few honks (and my dil said thumbs-up and waves - which I couldn't see, so I don't know :shrug: ) and a couple of 'booers', who then honked at the *B/c guy.

Wonder if he's out every morning?

9. I work downtown in SW Ohio and I spend every 1 hour lunch break

for the past 5 weeks street canvassing for Kerry.

It is really easy and once you get past your initial shyness lots of fun.

I visually target likely democratic voters and only encounter a few Bush supporters and a few leaning Bush because of misperceptions regarding whether he has made us safer. My likely democratic voters are also unlikely voters as they are newly registered, predominantly low income and many have never voted before. But I want every Kerry vote I can get.

I use flyers from the following site when I need proof to back up my contentions.

And I motivate, reassure and most importantly I disparage and ridicule Bush. Many of us do not realize the effect that negative reinforcement has but we must learn from repugs and best them.

Everyone reading this should be volunteering time, especially those in or near a swing state. Larimer County alone (northern Colorado) has 1400 volunteers signed up, but we need more more MORE!
