What do you want Kerry to say tomorrow night? |
|
I would like him to acknowledge that the country is deeply divided. We are practically in the midst of a nonviolent civil war. I would like him to call for us to remember our shared values and talk about healing our divisions by reminding us to respect our differences and find a way to work together toward common goals. I think this would strike a huge chord in the nation!
I don't want to hear "I have a plan" again. SNL made mincemeat of it last week.
I also want him to not promise too much expensive stuff. He could say: if such and such brings in the revenue I expect , we can do such and such. If not, we will have to defer that program. He could be more specific about the fiscal responsibility part. Sometimes he keeps promising to do this and that I just want to scream: how can you pay for all that? Health care, job creation, and environment/energy efficiency issues seem to be the three priorities. These, in turn, can feed one another. Bush's record on all three is abysmal.

1. I want him to point an accusing finger and say |
|
"You, sir, are dumber than a box of dead crabs!" But I'll settle for cogent, persuasive, rational arguments that make that very point without actually saying it.

Kerry should also use the word "failure" a lot in describing Bush.

"George W. Bush is a total fuck up and we need to kick his lying, fascist ass out of OUR White House!"
Do you think there's any chance he'll actually say that?
But seriously ... I was talking to someone who is voting for Kerry simply because she knows Bush must go. She watched both debates and she said that she's sick of hearing about terrorism and Iraq. "What about the economy? What about healthcare? Neither man is really talking about those things."
I disagree with her - I think Kerry has talked about those things as much as he could during the debates - but I understand why she felt that way. The first debate was about foreign policy, so of course, it was all about terrorism and Iraq. But the second debate was supposed to be about domestic policy, yet so many questions concerned Iraq, which left less time to talk about domestic issues. (Apparently Charlie Gibson didn't understand what the topic was when he was choosing the questions. :eyes:) When a domestic issue question was asked, Bush always seemed to bring it back to terrorism.
So ... what I want Kerry to do is stop being pulled into the terrorism grandstanding by Bush and stay focused on domestic issues. Get specific about the plans and point out Bush's failures in those areas - and even point out how Bush morphs domestic issues into terrorism/Iraq issues to avoid answering the real questions. JMHO

in the first debate. I was so proud of him and it made furious george look juvenile and unworthy. I think he should continue to clarify his domestic agendas that appeal to people who are looking for their government to give them concrete answers to jobs, medical care and education.

There has been no one held accountable for the lack of poor planning in Iraq.
There is no intication that Bush is holding them accountable.
It is up to the American voter to hold Bush accountable by firing Bush.

14. 3 Big Things regarding the economy & taxes |
|
1) Point out how awful the 1.9 million jobs created in 13 months really is. The Republicans keep bringing that up again and again like it is awesome. I think Rush & Hannity both orgasmed reading the numbers.(previously, it was 1.7 million created in 12 months, then we create 96,000 jobs and go up to 1.9 million in 13 months????). Use these two statistics: a) An average 13 month period under Bill Clinton – average, mind you – brought you over 3 million new jobs and; b) In the same 13 months that we created 1.9 million new jobs, our working age population grew by about 2 million people. 2) When George W. Bush took office, the majority of taxes in this country were paid by the rich. Now, thanks to Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, the rich no longer pay the most taxes – that burden falls to the middle class. (There was a recent non partisan study released on this, but I forgot the name) 3) The average family income is down for the first time in X years. The few new jobs that are being created are much lower paying than the jobs that were lost. Couple the lower average income with rising costs for gasoline, increased property taxes and other inflationary items like milk, and the middle class & working class of America are really hurting.

Kerry also should briefly explain how deficits impact the current economy.
For example, high oil prices.

21. I hope he smacks down the Chimp for dissing Massachussetts |

and New England overall. This regional dividing really infuriates me -- the snarky way Chimp says, "He voted for taxes. Just what you'd expect from a Senator from Massachussetts."
Massachussetts is a very proud part of US History, along with the rest of New England.
(For that matter, "Hollywood Liberals" generate a huge amount of revenues for the US Treasury.)

is Kerry pounding furious George in the ground, kicking the living crap out of him. But then I remember I'm a peace-loving person and I put my trust in John Kerry to do the right thing. He's been doing great so far. And I quietly forgive him for not taking a stand against Israel and hope he will come to his senses, once he is elected.
