I am so sick of this sh!t |
|
They take a few words out of an entire article:
"We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives but they're a nuisance."
and all I see on television is that lying MUTHA F***** and his minions repeating it over and over and over.
Is America THAT stupid?! When I see the hand picked bush crowds cheering him for that line I feel like I want to move out of this country!
I really think Kerry is going to win in a landslide but November 2nd feels light years away.
How do you DUers cope so well? You all crack jokes and for the most part stay even tempered. Every frickin day I want to throw a brick through my television. Thanks for letting me rant.

I recently moved into the boonies and I don't get a single station (unless you count NetFlix) I feel so much better! Surprisingly few withdrawal symptoms. Of course, I also found the joy of posting in the DU discussion boards as opposed to just reading the articles and that helps.
Oh right, and the bong hits help too!

4. I don't watch tv news - just cspan and I read the news |
|
I know you're a newsjock and it's your profession, so you probably have to watch. But try to limit it to the absolute minimum. You'll feel better them them out of your mind. Literally.

5. I was starting to feel the same way as you do. I decided to turn off the |

TV and I feel a lot better. Cable news is the worst. They don't report news, they repeat what they are told by the administration.
It's really disgusting.

|
Gr-r-r-r-r. And then that little punk comes on and starts whinning about Kerry this, Kerry that. He's so scared he has to try and scare the rest of us. Face it, most people are sheep and want to follow as long as they can drive their SUVs and shop at Wal-Mart.

7. Being here helps us cope |
|
We know we're the majority, even though the media doesn't present that very often. Being here helps re-assure ourselves that we're not alone in our frustration.

I have been doing this S*IT for 3 years. I went back to smoking, gained 20 pounds and am continuously fighting depression. I have lost 3 lifetime friends and have not more than 1/2 dozen dates in 3 years

Some folks here will tell you to turn off your TV. It may be good advice but not something I am able to do. I'm mesmerized by the deceit and distortion. It's so impossible to really believe this is happening in my country. I keep waiting to be proved wrong and that the media will rise up in mass and tell the frickin truth. I survive on whatever action I can take to create change and hope. I think sometimes without DU I would go mad.

13. yes, most americans ARE that stupid |
|
how else do you explain the popularity of "reality" shows on TV, SUVs, country "music", and religion?
our culture has been dumbed down intentionally
we are not supposed to be thinking individuals
we are just consumers and spenders to the powered elite
keeping people stupid keeps them buying useless shit

16. A relatively cheap (inexpensive) way to vent your frustrations: |
|
I suggested this to a woman in my congregation who is going through a lot of personal stress:
Go to your local store where they have cheapie vending machines. Spend $.50 on one of the stupid plastic toys that come in a plastic egg. Go to the parking lot, and STOMP LIKE MAD!!! If you feel better, then clean up and go on your way. If not, then go back and repeat a few times.
You may want to visualize a face, person, issue, or whatever. The point is to vent the anger to an inanimate object, rather than your loved ones (who usually get the brunt of our anger).
G'head...try it, you'll like it!

I've also found it helpful to keep a bottle of bubbles handy. It's hard to be mad when you're blowing bubbles.

18. Many of us cope the same way as you. Rant. |

I think everyone here has had at least one day where we've felt like our heads were going to explode from exposure to the unaccountable, lying neo-cons, their boot-licking cronies and the complicit media.
Sometimes you just have to 'go off' and get it out of your system. Just keep telling yourself, 22 more days... 22 more days.
