The election is just three weeks away! As all Americans are getting to know John Kerry in the debates, the Bush-Cheney campaign is getting desperate again. Their only hope now is to pummel a small handful of "swing" states with false advertising, push polls, and paid canvassing -- and hope that cynicism and deception wins the day.

Luckily, Democratic Party field teams in the swing states planned ahead for this. They're running aggressive door-to-door programs using tens of thousands of volunteers to get information to undecided voters and to encourage infrequent voters to vote.

It's fun, it's easy and it's one way all of us can help K/E. Since you're a mod, I wish you could keep your post kicked or stuck at the top of the page....people can work the phones from any state.

I made 20 calls to Florida last night, left ten messages, and talked to five people. Everyone was happy to have been called, and three said they would go to their local canvas event on Saturday. When I said I was a Kerry/Edwards volunteer, one woman exclaimed, "We sure as hell aren't voting for Bush!" Another person said he's home during the week, so I gave him the Phone Corps URL.

If you (like me) don't think you'd be good at canvassing, this is a great way to participate. Get other people to go out and canvas for you! :)
