3. Interesting stuff so far |
|
Pretty favorable overview of Kerry's time at Yale, followed by a lead in to an overview of Bush's time there that begins, "George Bush reacted very differently to Yale."
Talked about Kerry as a good student, driven, well-rounded, intellectual. Then said Bush didn't like the "overly intellectual" atmosphere at Yale (or something like that). He joined the rowdiest frat, etc...
HERE WE GO -- talking about the draft and how Kerry and Bush approached it....

Uh oh, here's where John O'Neill rears his ugly head. Meeting with Nixon, discussing the need to "destroy" John Kerry.
Wow, debate on Dick Cavett -- I had no idea there was so much archival footage! This is AMAZING!

38. My favorite line from the debate |
|
And Kerry has such a smartass look on his face when he says it.
He just devastated O'Neill. All O'Neill could do was attack him on a personal level. Reminds me of now.
And O'Neill looks like such a jag doing it, too. I can't describe his attitude, but it makes me want to slap him.

by the rest of "objective" "mainstream" media in recent years. This Frontline special is breath-taking in its direct, honest approach to the history of both candidates (and the result is a pretty unflattering commentary on GWB).
If you are not already watching, TUNE IN!
I think it re-airs this Thursday AND Monday, Nov. 2. No stations forced to pre-empt regular programming in this case, Frontline is a staple on PBS.
Frontline programs are also made available in streaming video format on the PBS website. Don't know how long it will take to get it up, but check it tonight if you miss the broadcast. I'll be right back with a link...

Really revealing look at both men.
At one point I was just utterly shocked at the life of the man that is our President. His total lack of self accomplishment. Then later the despicable politics. I knew all this stuff, but had never seen it strung together so well. It makes more of an impact.
Kerry made mistakes too. But he obliterates Bush in the ability to learn from the past, and solve problems, and bring people together.
