Bush Interpreter Says W Uses An Earpiece

"Having worked directly with President Bush twice since then, and having additionally talked with many of my fellow interpreters who have worked directly with him, I am now certain that he could not have had that much knowledge of Indonesia. He doesn't even read the daily newspaper to keep up with what's being reported in the press. I am convinced that he must have been using some sort of earpiece through which someone was telling him what to say. . . . I just wanted to confirm my own strong belief that President Bush is often fed what he is supposed to say at important events."

Fred Burks has acted as an interpreter for George W. Bush. (Note: "translation" is written, "interpretation" is oral.) Burks wrote the following letter to Bob Fertik of Democrats.com, who avers that he has verified that Burks did indeed hold down that job:

As a deep insider myself, I have independent confirmation of President Bush using an earpiece to assist him in communicating intelligently with others. I've worked as a contract Indonesian language interpreter with the US State Department for over 18 years. I first started interpreting at the presidential level in 1995 at a White House meeting for President Clinton and President Suharto of Indonesia with their top advisors. You can read a short story of the many small miracles that led me to interpret for presidents at www.gcforall.org/inspirations (scroll down to Issue #1, where it is the second story).

1. I too agree that Shrub
has been wired all along. That is why I think it's important that he get body scanned before the debate.

20. Nope. It's higher than the debate bulge.
It's also recessed from the line of his shoulder blades, whereas the shading of the debate photo indicates the bulge there protrudes beyond the line of his shoulder blades.

10. I believe those are earplugs
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 08:55 PM by Catch22Dem
Very common when using a chainsaw. Don't get me wrong, I think the MF is crooked as all hell, but I just think those are earplugs in this case.

Replied to the wrong post. I was talking about the ones of him on his "ranch" (aka "dirt farm")

18. My husband wears those very same earplugs with the very same colored
cord (except sometimes it's yellow) at work. And he's definitely not wired. I'll scare up a couple and take a picture and post it here tomorrow. :hi:

12. No question that's a bullet proof vest - you can see part of it
You can see part of it under his shirt on his left shoulder. This picture is a bullet proof vest.

If you think this is like the debate picture, you must conclude that during the debate Bush wore a bullet proof vest. He was skeered.

"So I don't worry about, and people shouldn't
worry about a draft. . . I think we're in good
shape, I really do. And, if not, we'll -- I'll address
the nation
. But I don't see any need to right now."

15. I don't see any vest
why would he wear a vest on his Crawford ranch?

That makes no sense.

Why wear a vest during the debate? It's 100% secure.

I don't see any vest. I clearly see earpieces and wires though.

25. Look on the left shoulder under the Tshirt
I see the shoulder strap of a bullet proof vest. And yes, after Reagan, all presidents wear bullet proof vests anytime there's a chance of being shot. In the woods, a long range rifle could take him out easy, and on stage in front of an audience and TV production staff, a small plastic pistol would do the job too. I don't blame him for wearing a bullet proof vest.

And if he was wearing a wire, it didn't help him at all, did it? Let him do the exact same thing again and the country is saved.

So why bother?

23. It looks just like the shape on his back in the debate, but
why would he be wearing ANY device on his back while clearing
brush or whatever the hell he's doing?

16. Those are ear protection.
Foam ear plugs connected by a plastic cable. Likely being used to protect his ears from a chainsaws noise.

Wired earphones typically have a coiled wire, like often seen on telecasters or security guards.

And the one Bush allegedly used in the debates would have been WIRELESS. That means, no wire.

24. I think they are earplugs, just coincidence
that the other photo shows... the bulge.

He may still be wired for communication purposes. He may
wear a wire for noise-reduction, so if he talks, a receiver
can hear him clearly above whatever din.

3. I have a hard time accepting that * can remember what the earpiece
told him and regurgitate it correctly. He doesn't have the concentration to hold onto more than one simple idea at a time, if that much. * impresses me as someone who would mess up cheating during a test.

8. But why would he have a transmitter while in his truck???
It's more likely some problem he has with his back he does not want to be discovered. That is why he did not want to do his medical exam this year...
