What are you doing to survive the next three weeks? HELP
This is not a joke, it's serious!!

I thought about, going to visit family in Germany and coming back a day before the election......but on the other hand I'm glued and can't get out of this mess!!!

But why does it consume my entire life and makes me depressed?

I am so skeptical about the Republicans, I think, they are capable of everything!!

They just can't loose, because they could get in trouble about all their criminal things they did!!!!!

HELP, How do you friends try do solve anxiety?!

It's no joke, I'm a very strong woman, 53 years old, very logical, but this just takes all my positive thinking and happiness away from me...............HELP

  :pals:

1. My boss and I were talking about getting Valium
so we could sleep at night.

I know that won't help, and it probably sounds sarcastic.

But it's true!

2. I've been watching Turner Classic Movies...
..part of the time. Delving into those old films provides some sense of comfort and a welcome distraction.

3. Maybe doing volunteer work for the campaign and helping the cause in a
material way would help alleviate the feelings of depression?

Alternatively just getting outside and/or getting some exercise.

12. That is what works for me
I am not fighting depression, but anxiety. Doing something concrete, in the company of other "freedom fighters", alleviates that anxiety greatly.

:-)

I am not depressed because I am confident of victory, although it will probably be closer than I would like.

14. Exactly
Any time I get worried, I just pick up the phone and make phone calls, which is what my local group wants me to do. Mix that with Kerry camp phone calls. It always lifts my spirits, as does the company of "freedom fighters". ;)

four long years for these last three weeks.

One fun thing I'm doing is getting neighbors together in my precinct for parties. I'm meeting new friends in my neighborhood and having great fun and conversation.

Do you have a precinct (or whatever the equivalent is) list? If not, just knock on doors of those with yard signs and bumper stickers.

by Republicans (could look it up in the INTERNET about donations!)

It's a very well known Community in the North suburbs of Atlanta,
Country Club of the South!!! There is no way to meet people or create a group devoted Democrates.............Sh.t!

15. My zip code
is the same way. Overwhelmingly Republican suburban area in Texas. I've been surprised at the number of Democrats.

Still, it just takes meeting one new person/couple in your neighborhood to make you feel happy and help you get through the next few weeks!

26. Exercise Good, Treadmill Bleah
Why do people pick such boring and unaesthetic forms of exercise?

Surely there are more interesting and scenic places to run than on a treadmill.

Dancing and mountain biking for me.

Personally, whiskey makes me gag, but as whiskies go I think this is supposed to be one of the best.

I enjoy wine, too. No Crown Royal for me. :hi:

If you do, vote early, before you go, so you won't lose your vote
if your flight gets delayed or something.

29. CANVASSING
I've knocked on so many goddamned doors in the last month that my calves are starting to hurt; this town has way too many second floor apartments.

Then again, I get to meet lots and lots of like minded Democrats, encourage/beg/plead/threaten/cajole them into registering/voting, and get good exercise. Most importantly, it keeps my mind off the negative things Shrub does to my psyche -- at least I'm out there doing something, ya know?

30. The Latest Translation of Don Quixote
tr., Edith GROSSMAN. It's supposed to be an extremely faithful translation withOUT archaic language.

After the 2000 SCotUS coup, when there was NO way out, I sunk into "The Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire," not only for its theme, but because of the LENGTH, and one of those that I had always wanted to read. It covered my period of supposed "adjustment" to the numbness of disbelief of living under Shrub.

But before SCotUS: 2000 was the first year I was free to immerse in the whole campaign, as portrayed in the universe of cable. It was NERVE WRACKING, watching Tweety and other media whores trash GORE every day, all day. In the week before Election Day, I had already voted, and the supense was INTOLERABLE, so I DECIDED TO GET AWAY FROM IT by taking a trip.

Destination? FLORIDA. On Election night I was watching the returns IN MIAMI!!!!

So this time I am NOT leaving the home fires untended, NO WAY!
