I think we're decompensating, and I think it's due to fear...
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:02 PM by DianeG5385
Acknowledged or not, we're scared of what these suckers are capable of. I think what shocks us most is that after they have presided over the most disastrous presidency in the history of this country, they still have close to 50% of the vote, our minds can't get around that.

With Sinclair (ironically named after an old oil conglomerate, research anyone? Remember the dinosaur?? "), we have a ready made propaganda arm for the right wing. They tried to keep it quiet, we, again, begin to wonder about our democracy.

When GB was appointed in 2000, we had an Alfred E. Newman sign up in our offices (until the controller found it "offensive") that said "Worry" instead of "What me Worry". I told my family that this dude will get us into a war w/ Iraq "mark my words"...they were sick of me, miss blah blah blah. Well, I was right to my everlasting regret. We ALL knew that if Bush was elected, war w/ Iraq was inevitable. 911 was the unknown. My mind STILL can't get around that tragedy, and I don't think our country has effectively dealt with what happened beacuse of ALL THE LIES!! P.S., What happened to the billions contributed to the families in the wake of our 911 grief?!!!

My fear is that these ***holes have worked their ***es off to intimidate and distract us so we don't see the truth. Other than 911, they are responsible for the destruction of America the Beautiful, the beacon on a hill. They ARE THE CORPRATION! THEY ARE THE BEAST!!

It's easy to feel paranoid, when it seems like all of the broadcast media is out of sync with you. I seriously have become obsessed with getting this country back on track, to the point that "work" seems unimportant. Note, I'll still work, but my mind insists on focusing on what the heck is going on!!!

It has begun to seem that there is a concerted "strong arm" effort to make sure Bush is re-elected. WHY??? I think part of the problem is the proliferation of media outlets who care less about journalistic integrity than ad revenue. CNN became BIG after Gulf War 1 in 1991 because they had the "tracer fire" and reporters in Baghdad. I'm probably one of the few who has watched them from the beginning so I know wherefore of I speak. Before the war they had pathetic ad revenue after??? Big time difference! There was no Fox or MSNBC before Gulf War 1. They got in it because war is PROFITABLE! Gulf War 2. Big buck revenue. It was in their interest to play to the story that ensured we went to war. Continuous carnage equals continuous profits. Don't focus on the victims. The cable news channels were not objective observers of the news. They now have carved up the territory and CNN has taken the right-wing tilt, again in the search for ad revenue.

There are few honest brokers for the democrats because of this. They follow the money and right now the money is with the Bushies. So, if we win, one of two things will happen; a repeat of the Clinton admin right wing attacks OR the complete destruction of the right wing whacko set. I vote unfortunately for the former. De-regulation has given them the upper hand.

I hope I am wrong. But remember, when Kerry wins (and I'm banking on it) there is PROFIT in tearing him down and the pukey right will re-double their efforts. We won't win until "News" is not a profit center, but an obligation required by the FCC. Bring back the "Fairness Doctrine"!

2. I suppose it's my personal opinion
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:05 PM by DianeG5385
But I have been right a helluva lot more than Bush! Besides it's not a negative message but a reality check. I cannot stomach the thought of another four years of Bush.

4. I guess it's just my reaction to the beginning of this thread seeming neg-
ative. I try to avoid them. I'm positive, upbeat and sure. I don't want to break my stride. I was trying to be nice. Hope I didn't offend.

6. No offense taken
I am just trying to spread some reality so that we don't expect the media to help us get the vote out. It's all on us. There have been many threads obsessing on the Sinclair et al folks and oh, what to do. We can't DO anything about them if we don't get ourselves and everyone we know to the polls esp. in swing states.

5. Fear is not bad ...
If it alerts you to problems and you act!

The good point, that should bring bravery, is that many of us now know that the media is the mouthpiece of Big Brother. It is only a tool to control the masses and it the psychology behind it is well funded.

If people of intelligence don't feel the same way about mass media as they do about the Bush Administration, then they have not awakened yet to the ultimate truth.

The best analogy would be The Matrix + 1984. If you add them together, then you can get a clear picture that is neither a conspiracy theory or a paranoid delusion at all. It is simply the truth. It only makes sense. The information is there for you to verify it. It is SO unbelievable that that is the reason why it works in the first place.

The only option is to be brave and take the red pill while avoiding O'Brien's carefully laid trap.

7. Fear also causes craven action
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:34 PM by DianeG5385
The natural response is to protect yourself and cling to what you perceive to be the strongest flock. This, I believe accounts for a good proportion of the republican vote in excess of their 30% base. In many (not our) eyes, the Pukes look like the bully punks who have the "street" under control. All we have to do is pay "protection" i.e. vote for them. Unless they start taking whacks at us, all we have to do is vote them out! If we don't vote them out, they will consolidate power and we will be weaker than ever.

8. That's why it's sooo important to win in the house and senate as well.
So they can't do to Kerry what they did to Clinton- distract him and keep him from doing OUR work. Assholes.
Don't give up! Read "Organizing for Social Change" and"The Anti-Coup"- we're going to need each other.
Not that posting on a website will make change, but we each are a node for action all over the country then we will make a positive difference.
NO VICTIM mentality, they can't take what we will not give- consent, cooperation.
Keep the faith, stay strong, we''ll be there.

10. We need to understand that we are being played
However, the players forget we can vote them out in November if those who are afraid exercise the power of their vote. Anonymous, last time I checked!

12. That's it! And how was it we got it sooo right 4 years ago??
We're not clairvoyant, his objectives were so clear from day one. What I wonder about is why we bother to play around with all the WMD BS and all the excuses that followed, since they were ALL a pack of lies. I'll bet if you put out a poll question in 2000 to the effect, "If George Bush is elected will he go to war with Iraq?" the result would have been an overwhelming yes. Now THAT'S pathetic!
