We're in Central Texas, by Ft Hood army base...VERY rightwingnut territory.
Usually.
Hubby is active duty army, recently back from Iraq. VERY ANGRY soldier. His answer to Michael Moore's question in F9/11 is NO, in fact, he will NEVER AGAIN TRUST the American people...but then, he didn't in the first place, because he, like most his unit in 4th ID, KNEW it was all bullshit before they ever left the US for Iraq.
He despises bush but has been feeling very low, because while his entire unit also despises bush and are up on REALITY, he daily runs into the typically ignorant idiot rightwingnut brownshirt types as well as the totally-ignorant-too-lazy-to-bother types.
Our next door neighbour is also A/D army, different unit than hubby's, and he's always been a very republican good ol boy Tennessee-born & bred soldier.
This evening as we're heading out and he was heading home, we stopped to yap for a minute, and he told us he refused to re-up and he's out of the military in 30 days. He also said, without any of that "testing the waters" people usually do first to see which way the wind blew with us, that KERRY MUST WIN and MUST kick the lying murdering war criminal bastard OUT of the WH.
:wow: :wow: :wow:
We of course immediately agreed with him -altho he didn't look like he gave a shit whether we did or not- and as it so made our night, thought I'd pass it on to ya'll.
Hubby has been smiling all night. He's asleep now...and he's still smiling. :)

I hope your husband understands why we marched to keep them out of an illegal, unnecessary war, and learns to trust some Americans again. My best to you both. :pals:

5. Very good to hear he's home... |

I'm curious to see how the military votes this election. Usually they are VERY republican...but three years of wars can change that...

Maybe he can share his feelings with the local paper or the national news media.
And tell him thanks for being brave and fighting, even though it was for Bush. We love him as much as ever!

My husband recently got home from a two year Guard deployment. We know too many people in the unit who are still going to vote for chimpy after this. I was down about that. I talked to a friend of mine in Germany today though, and she said people she's been talking too are going about 50/50. I was so happy to hear that! Then I read your post. I'm feeling much better about the military vote. :D

Thanks be to God that your husband is home!!! I'm sorry he came home so disgusted and discouraged. I'm sorry he ever had to go over there to begin with. I'm glad he's smiling now. He deserves it. And I'm DELIGHTED to hear about your next door neighbor!

Bless your husband & you for the hell you've been put through. I feel so sorry for the troops who were pawns in Dubya's personal war. It was supposed to be a trophy for Poppy, but it's certainly not turning out that way.
Kerry's going to win!!!

I think it is great, a big WOOOHOOO! It is very telling when people like your neighbor finally see the light. I hope it is repeated millions of times over between now and Nov. 2. And thanks to your husband for his service, I am so glad his came home safely. I hope he and you know how many of us out here tried to stop this war before it was started. And you neighbor is right, Kerry must win, we must get rid of * and his administration. I fear we won't survive another 4 years of this regime. Hope you and hubby can keep smiling.
