16. yeah, border security and refusal to deal w/ illegal immigration
is a huge huge issue.

if this is true, Bush & Co. is toast. > 70% of the American
people want something done about illegal immigration and one
of the biggest side issues is our borders are not secure.

8. I remember a recent post here
I don't remember who made it, I think it was a newbie. But it was talking about the Texas National Guard training for martial law. Just a reminder. And as I often say, "I wouldn't put anything past this bunch of criminals."

Drudge floats this story...Bush issues terror alert...Bush's approval ratings rise enough to create the impression of a recovery after they hurl more shit at Kerry

Will Terror Alert Level Show Its True Colors? (Alert/Poll #'s Link Found)

By Al Kamen
Wednesday, October 13, 2004; Page A19

A Cornell sociologist says he has found scientific evidence that, whenever the government issues a terrorism alert, President Bush's approval ratings go up, even on domestic issues, such as his handling of the economy.

Robb Willer, assistant director of the Sociology and Small Groups Laboratory at Cornell -- someone else runs Large Groups? -- tracked about 26 occasions since 2001, including the major Code Orange alerts by the Department of Homeland Security, when some agency -- the FBI, the State Department or someone else -- announced a potential threat to Americans.

He tracked those with 131 Gallup polls taken during that time up until May. Willer, a doctoral candidate in sociology, found that, on average, each warning prompted a 2.75 point increase in the president's approval rating the following week.

11. The October Surprise Meme
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 12:02 AM by MatrixEscape
is losing its luster to me. I mean, most of us would not put anything past the current Administration now, as far as drity tricks are concerned.

What could they do to surprise us at this point? Release porno tapes of Kerry and some bimbo? Code Red, shut down the country? Nope, I am not surprised.

The REAL surprise, for me, would be for Bush to admit he is a war criminal and resign from office and concede to Kerry. Now THAT would be an October surprise. Everything else is just what you would expect from people with no semblance of honor, values, or ethics. When you see those who lust for power, you already expect the very worst from them. You know they don't represent you or your interests. You just hope they don't get to far before they ruin the order and harmony of everything in their path.

I hope this backfires on the bastards big time. How could anyone fall for this coming from the Washington Times?

15. This Chechen Terrorist story doesn't even MAKE SENSE!
Let me see if I have this correct---the Chechens don't want to be under Russian rule, so they're coming to ARIZONA to do some terrorism?

Give me a freakin' break.

Just how STUPID is Drudge?

21. We know it is propaganda, but it is important to keep an eye on it
Drudge sometimes scoops --- but this scoop is from the Moonie times as well.

Just watch it and see what develops from it

22. Kerry should (and probably will) use this in the Arizona debate
It's a domestic policy debate, and Kerry can use it effectively as an example of Bush not "securing the homeland."

If it were only Drudge, Kerry wouldn't be able to use it, but the Washington Times reported it too.
