That Was IT?!
The October Surprise turned out to be a smear-job being broadcast to 25% of the nation on primarily UHF stations? Let's remember that even during its heydey of popularity, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was the Number One show on the the WB, but it was the 97th show overall in the Neilsen Ratings. Right now, one of the highest rated shows on the UPN is "Yu-Go-Oh," which appeals primarily to males who won't be eligible to vote for another decade or so.

Since Sinclair Broadcast Group is controlled by the four Smith Brothers, there's little we can do to stop them from broadcasting their hit-piece, but we can cause advertisers to leave them in droves, which would indicate to voters that sober business people don't want any part of this. And we can point out the clear violation of campaign finance law that's going on here, and remind people that it's another example of how corporations are taking over our government.

Nobody with a functioning brain is going to be swayed by this trash-talking, and it's likely that it will simply alienate more voters. Rememeber that it's primarily those independent and undecided voters who care the least about something that John Kerry or George W. Bush did thirty years ago. They're more concerned about what's going to happen next year and the year after that. While we elves can keep banging away on this, the Kerry Campaign should keep their eyes on domestic issues and not dignify this with a comment.

13. What Buffy were you watching?
She NEVER had multiple sex partners. She had 3... count them 3 boyfriends in 7 years. And she had sex with them. Wow... I had 4 girlfriends in 7 years before I got married and I had sex with them... I guess that makes me more of a "sex pot" than Buffy.

The only times the "sex pot" thing became an issue was in season 4 when she was under a spell to have a lot of sex with the same partner for an episode. and Season 6 where she was using sex with a character as a way to voice her own self loathing of what she is.

There was never a three some involving Buffy. And there was one three some mentioned, but that was on Angel at the end of the 5th and final season and it was a joke about the bad guys in a flash back to the 1800's!

2. After hearing rumors of Spock's death in Star Trek II, people thought the
same after his bogus death in the simulation.

He died for real by the movie's end.

Moral of the story? It's not over until it's over.

It's not over.

7. Still
you can't deny that Liscomb has an axe to grind, or money to be made over John's military record. This is hyped, biased nonsense over nothing and should be ignored. Liscomb is playing the game of "if you have nothing to hide . . ." Liscomb claims that Carter ordered the review but he offers no evidence that it wasn't a hangover from the previous republican administrations which had it out for John. I would be careful in promoting this as a story. It has less facts than the rest of Liscomb's tripe and attempts to link the alleged review to Executive Order 4483, a process that obtained amnesty for draft dodgers. What a smear! The parade of whore losers continues. That's the story.

I wonder where Liscomb served?

8. LOL! don't you guys realize that's a dead horse?
listen, the only people that care about that is Bush's base, which, if he's trying to retain them so desperately, he's in deep guano.

11. The New York Sun is an ultra-right wing paper
The New York Sun is a daily newspaper published at New York City which debuted April 16, 2002. It is "the first general interest broadsheet newspaper to be launched in New York in two generations".

Its owners include Hollinger International, the company once led by former Canadian "media baron" Conrad Black, who renounced his Canadian citizenship when the Canadian government forbade him to accept a British peerage. According to an article in the Boston Globe, the paper's staff include many well-known political conservatives. Its president and editor in chief is Seth Lipsky and its managing editor Ira Stoll.

9. My 2 cents on this.
Does Sinclair really think everyone will watch that movie?

Personally, I prefer to forget that horrible war. My father served in the U.S. Air Force and was sent to Viet Nam. I was a young kid at the time, but I heard enough about it back then. I am sorry that there were POW's or MIA's and I am sorry that we ever got involved in that mess. I have nothing but respect for those that served, and for those that still serve our country. I served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and was Honorably Discharged.

People are still telling their stories about the Viet Nam war, and I respect their feelings and beliefs. But, I feel most Americans would rather not dwell on those memories, because it was hard enough to cope with back then. I may be wrong, but I wont be watching their movie.

17. Based on their ratings...
...and the fact that they're only viewed in 25% of the country, my guess is only a handful of people are going to tune in, and most of them will be either similarly-minded wingnuts or DU Debunkers. This film is a rehash of charges leveled at Kerry long ago.

(wonder if related to the all-time great G) he apparently has a law degree but acted like a child making facing and hand gestures when someone called in to state the pugs like fear tactics. They know they are in trouble and will do ANYTHING to get the idiot re-elected.
