My wife's INFORMED OPINION on the W jacket bulge thing |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 07:59 AM by underpants
to be brief she says.....it's a
GIRDLE!
On the Today Show Katie asked Russert about it (see in light of the Rather/CBS memogate we can't ignore bloggers anymore) to which Russert said there was no PROOF of anything.
I froze the screen image and told her about the theories flowing around the internets.
BTW-my wife has a fashion design degree which is more than just colors and playing dress up, she knows all about the construction and design of clothing. She knows what she is talking about.
Wire-no I never bought that myself. She didn't either-why risk it?
"Pucker" in his suit-No she said puckers don't look like that and at $5K each they damn well better not be puckering.
Brace-she said it looks to high on his back-what would it be supporting in?
Body armor-I told her that the WH has come out (leaked?) that W does not wear any flack jacket and such-God will protect him.
She said that it looks very much like the ribbing in a corset or formal dress. Most likely a girdle.
She added, as a joke, that it could be some sort of "invisible fence" electrical shock thingy that Rove uses to shock W back on message or to direct him on stage-that could explain his charge toward Charlie Gibson and abrupt right turn towards the audience in debate 2.
Bottom line-it appears to be a girdle if anything.

1. a girdle that high up on the back? |

13. That would be a corset, not a girdle. |
|
And you wouldn't have a bulge on the center of your back, because there is no fat covering the spine. The bulges would be elsewhere, such as near the underarm, where there is enough fat to cause a bulge.

8. Nope. Ribbing would be vertical, not horizontal. |
|
Plus, if it were a girdle, you would see bulges near his underarms, which you don't.
The bulge is too confined to be a girdle. Occam's razor. It's a transceiver.

I've noticed that when Bush has been shown in shirtsleeves over the last couple of months, he's obviously been getting wider and wider at his waist, and my Republican in-laws noticed it, too. Maybe his expensive suits don't fit these days.
Last year he was gym rat wiry, and supposedly spent most afternoons "working out" in his White House gym. Maybe he doesn't have time to exercise these days, maybe the rumors that he's off the wagon are true, maybe he's eating too many Philly steaks with American cheese (ick), but he's definitely getting wider faster than normal "middle-age spread."
Still, wouldn't that be a corset rather than a girdle to be up that high on his back. Long ago, I wore a corset to my high school prom, and it didn't have anything protruding from the back. But that was long ago, and was meant to keep the strapless gown up, not hold in the gut I didn't have.

16. I noticed his weight at the second debate |
|
Whether is was a girdle or corset he did seem to have quite the gut (not that I am one to talk). He had "runner's knee" operated on a few months ago that's why he took up "mountain biking"*. He has been an avid runner for a while and a good one but apparently he didn't stretch before or after the runs (stupid).

I think it's a wire. The WH hasn't even TRIED to explain it away, therefore, it's a wire. They've been caught.

when he fell off the Segway or the mountain bike. Seriously, I do think it might be a back brace and the handlers don't want to admit it because it would call into question his virile manliness.

25. Technical experts say he was wired. |
|
There's a discussion in the Latest News forum about a Salon article quoting one of those experts. I posted a message here last night giving links to statements by another expert (also links to his website and credentials). That thread is at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1046994 (maybe I should bump it).

|
Why would he wear a wire that used a TV antenna off of a 1970 limo? He has access to the absolute best in "spy" technology and he uses something that clunky?
Preposterous.

31. From the Salon article I mentioned: |
|
Now a technical expert who designs and makes such devices for the U.S. military and private industry tells Salon that he believes the bulge is indeed a transceiver designed to receive electronic signals and transmit them to a hidden earpiece lodged in Bush's ear canal.
"There's no question about it. It's a pretty obvious one -- larger than most because it probably has descrambling capability," said Alex Darbut, technical and business development vice president for Resistance Technology in Arden Hills, Minn. Darbut examined photographs of the president's back taken from the Fox News video feed at the first presidential debate in Coral Gables, Fla., as well as 2002 photos of the president driving and working in a T-shirt on his Crawford ranch, which were posted on the White House Web site.

WHY?
Why conceal something so large between his shoulder blades, where it would be very apparent? Even if it DID require a transmitter that large (and I doubt it would) the small of the back would be a MUCH more logical place to put it.
This whole "wire" thing is just silly.

Even a bra isn't that high unless that sucker is really riding up. It looks like Boosh had a pack of cigarettes stuck up on his back---I can't think of any garment that would do that.
