Bush Accuses Kerry of Big Government Health PlanPHOENIX (Reuters) - President Bush on Tuesday accused Democrat John Kerry of proposing a "big government takeover" of the U.S. health care system as he set the stage for his third debate with the Massachusetts senator.
"You know, he said the other day the government doesn't have anything to do with this plan," Bush told a reception that raised $2.5 million for Republican candidates. "When he said that, I could barely contain myself."
A day before the final debate between the two presidential contenders with health care a likely topic, Bush's campaign ran a new television advertisement denouncing Kerry's plan. He accused Kerry of being a tax-and-spend liberal who would have to raise taxes to pay for ambitious spending proposal.
The Kerry campaign fought back with a campaign ad of its own accusing Bush of blocking imports of cheaper prescription drugs from Canada. Bush said in last week's debate in St. Louis he wanted to wait to make sure the drugs are safe before allowing them to be imported.
Bush said he would contain costs by limiting large damage awards in medical malpractice lawsuits and promote health savings accounts that allow consumers to 100 percent tax-deductible account to pay health care costs.

Although the person who wrote this (Steve Holland) probably considers himself a journalist, an actual journalist would bother to, you know, verify the claims through investigation and stuff.
So much for the fourth estate.
