What is the motive of the timing of this article: Mass grave unearthed in
Iraq
CNN reporting that US forces have exhumed a mass grave site in NW Iraq, uncovering "Scores of people"
Calling it a "Killing Field"
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/13/iraq.graves/index.html

Still trying to find justification for Iraq before the election?

9. Sort of like what they are creating in Afghanistan
a US sanctioned government. Didn't Iraq have elections before the invasion?

What I find amazing is that they have determined the ages of the children before forensic autopsies have been conducted. Or, they found this a while back and are just now reporting it. I heard on of the U.S. officials say that a mother was found holding her 2 year old child. Now how can he say that if this was just discovered?

3. Heard it on NPR. Saddam was a tyrant. No denying it. No

excuse to invade Iraq though because it happened over a decade ago. No proof Saddam committed all of these atrocities and murders, but he surely did some. Dems shouldn't bury our heads in the sand.

on edit: I don't think it was "timed" for release either.

6. We Democrats always knew, though.
It was the Republicans who took this budding despot under their wing and made him into the dictator he became.

To use the excuse that he had committed attrocities, attrocities of which we were fully aware, partially complicit, and involved in covering up in order to invade the country and remove him from power fully 12 years after the fact is worse than having your head buried in the sand. It is pure, unadulterated Machiavellianism.

If we were going to deal with tyrants for their tyrrany, this one would have been better handled in the early 1980s through sanctions, external diplomatic pressure, and aiding internal dissident groups. It's hard to efficiently unbreak the eggs once the omelet's cold.

4. Saw shots on the news
This wasn't something a shovel accidently hit last night. It's very nicely all dug up with dirt piled in rim around, etc. This did not just happen. It was exposed today to have a backdrop for Herr Bush tonight. It's all such a sham.

5. BBCAMERICA mentioned the upcoming election....
When they covered the story. The unending search for a "reason" to invade Iraq. Blair & company are also looking for a reason, since none of the others have panned out.

And the grave was filled when Reagan was in the White House, Bush Sr was his VP & Saddam was our good friend.

7. The answer to your question is obvious
They wanted to embarrass the Bush family for leaving Saddam in power in 1991.

8. Iraq Is Becoming A Mass Grave For Americans
1000 of our bravest souls are not worth the capture of a toothless dictator.
