Presidential Tracking Poll: Bush-Kerry

Wednesday October 13, 2004--On the day of the third and final 2004 Presidential Debate, the Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 48% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 46%. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.

The latest rating for the President's handling of the economy and the situation in Iraq provides further evidence of an evenly divided electorate. In both cases, the number who say the President is doing a good or an excellent job is roughly equal to the number saying he is doing a poor job.

Our latest Electoral College projections show the President ahead with 240 Electoral Votes to 194 for Senator Kerry. Additional state polling data will be released at 5:00 p.m. Eastern today.

1. Yes, an incumbent who polls under 48 percent
is an incumbent in trouble.

3. Rasmussen is often out of step with other polls. I tend to disregard
it, whether it's good OR bad, except to take it into account with the other polls.

Plus, IMO, it's the JOB APPROVAL RATING that is the most important thing. Rasmussen ALMOST ALWAYS has Bush over 50%, even when all other polls have him at 50% or below. I've heard Rasmussen owned by a Repub? True or no?
