Broadcasting their anti-Kerry bias -NY Daily News
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/241365p-206884c.html

For the first time in our history, a major television
company is openly trying to tip a presidential election.

No, not CBS.

Sure, that "60 Minutes" segment on President
Bush and his National Guard record was sloppy
and partisan reporting. But Dan Rather and CBS
News President Andy Heyward at least pay lip
service to some basic standards of journalism.
They eventually admitted their mistake.

Not so with David Deniston Smith, CEO of
Sinclair Broadcasting, or Mark Hyman, the
company's vice president for corporate relations.

3. Ominous lead
"For the first time in our history, a major television
company is openly trying to tip a presidential election."

..and does anyone honestly think this will be the last time? It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the media, print, broadcast and cable, quickly take sides politically and end all pretense at objectivity. To a large degree this is happening already (it's been the situation in Europe for decades), and the Sinclair thing will just accelerate the process.

The political, economic, social and class divisions exposed in this election aren't going to go away on November 2.

This may be heresy, but I'd rather know exactly where a media outlet is coming from than have to wade through commentary and opinion masquerading as news. The world isn't driven by reason and logic: it's driven by emotion and opinion.
