We have optiscan machines in MN and Moveon is suggesting we req an absentee ballot if we can.

I am going to be driving people to the polls so I am not sure I'll be in my precinct, but I don't want to not get it in the mail and find out later that I can't vote?

Also, who's to say someone won't rip up my vote? Why is this process more trustworthy then the optiscan machines in MN?

Thanks :hi:

2. Yes (for Colorado)
I did this in 2000. I called up the county clerk and they said that you would be flagged at the polling place as absentee and you would not be able to vote. So I filled it out and took it to the clerks office on Nov. 2nd. There were many other people there doing the same thing so it was pretty much like going to a polling place. I did not mail it in just to make sure that it actually got to the clerks office to be counted.

3. In Iowa, if you received an absentee ballot you can NOT vote on election

day UNLESS you give back all your absentee ballot documents to your voting place on election day and then they will let you vote.

You need to find out the specifics for your state.

Edit to add, here you could NOT deliver your ballot to your polling place on election day - it would NOT count.

It must be post-marked Nov 1 or earlier or hand delivered to the county auditor's office by Nov 1.

4. I was just told that I would be able to vote, but that the first vote I
cast would be the one counted.

So, I can request a ballot in MN but choose to vote in person on election day.

Now, I'm trying to find out about the integrity of the process. How will I know they got my absentee vote ect?

I'll keep you posted, thanks to those that responded.
