WTXL ABC NewsChannel 27 in Tallahassee refuses Sinclair attackumentary

http://www.wtxl.com/news/index.html

"WTXL ABC NewsChannel 27 in Tallahassee is not owned by Sinclair Broadcasting and has no plan to air programming at the request of Sinclair Broadcasting."

They are programmed by Sinclair, not owned by Sinclair. This station should be supported, and it's advertisers (those not also advertising directly with Sinclair) should be supported in some way.

How many other Sinclair "affiliates" are not Sinclair-owned? Those that are not Sinclair-owned may also choose to abandon the Sinclair attackumentary.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

4. Madison, WI fox47
Unfortunately, Madison's Fox47 IS a Sinclair company, and they have links to Sinclair on their front page. :(

6. So what? They aren't owned by Sinclair.
If one of Sinclair's own stations refused to air the document, that would be news. This isn't.

7. Most of the stations aren't owned by Sinclair
The goal is to not have the movie shown on all 62 stations. If all of the non-sinclair owned affiliates say no, that will greatly cut down on the reach of the propaganda.

The stations that are programmed by Sinclair but not owned by Sinclair (such as Tallahassee) are the ones that will be easiest to convince.

8. Sinclair operates some stations but doesn't 'own' the license
They operate a few stations under what is called a 'local management agreement' (LMA). Another company owns the license and the station, but Sinclair runs the station and sells the advertising. And they control the programming.

11. Is this the same Tallahassee station
that yesterday ran a statement from Sinclair urging people to call Kerry and tell him to accept Sinclair's offer of response time?

12. I live in Tallahassee
This is good news, but I'm confused. I know the NBC station here is owned and operated by Sinclair, and I thought the Fox station had some kind of agreement, but I never heard that the ABC station was affiliated.

13. This Is Very Big, Very Good News...
There are a large number of Sinclair stations that the company doesn't outright own, but wants to if Bunnypants is re-selected and the latest round of broadcast deregulation goes through. If Kerry wins and a court order prohibiting that deregulation bill from taking effect (Michael Powell attempted to ram it through last Spring) Sinclair will be forced to sell this as many other properties.

The legal loophole this company uses is a thing called a "Limited Management Agreement" or LMA. The owner of this station is owner in name only...Sinclair has probably paid him money and if the sale is transacted, the man stands to make millions more. Thus an LMA operator who is standing up to Sinclair is very big and telling.

Now would be a good time to identify the Sinclair LMAs...station controlled, but not owned by Sinclair and see what a little pressure can do.

Note: this doesn't mean that crap won't air on that station or in Jacksonville. If Sinclair owns another station (which they do in many markets) it will appear there...but at least not on both.

I hope all DUers will thank this station for recognizing its responsibility to the public as a broadcaster.
