More voter registration games in Florida
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 01:02 PM by madmax
Email from a friend in Florida.

"We heard some other stories from Tallahassee and Orlando too. We signed up a few folks as part of a MoveOn.org phone bank and one of the people that we sent registration forms to which they sent to Tallahassee in pre-addressed stamped envelopes never received their voter registration cards. They had to go to the county clerk’s office before last week’s deadline. While she was in line she heard other people making the same complaint.

On another note, *** dad still has not received his absentee ballot from Boca Raton. He called for it almost three weeks ago. *** and I called for ours last week and they arrived on Tuesday. *** and I decided to vote absentee because we heard on a radio program that because of the electronic voting systems used here. Only absentee ballots would be counted in the event of a recount. The woman at the Pinellas elections supervisors office told *** that 50,000 people in Pinellas county requested absentee ballots just last week.

Should Bush steal this election, *** and I are moving to British Columbia. I will make an honest woman out of ***. Same sex marriage is legal there. I could not stand another four years of this regime."

1. A good thing happened in Volusia County, Florida
Threatened with a lawsuit, the election supervisor in Volusia County agreed to additional early voting sites in the eastern side of the county, where most of the minoritity voters live. Originally they only had early voting in Deland, which is on the west side of the county.

2. There is no way
of only allowing absentee ballots for recount will stand. Dems learned their lesson in 2000. I'm sure the heavy push ( and it wont let up until it's given) is a new election if need be. This election might take a hell of along time to straighten out but no one will roll over again. That's my take on events.
