Backlash Begins against Sinclair Broadcasting
October 13, 2004 03:08 PM

...outraged individuals turned into activists by organizing action against the company....

...Several prominent websites including DailyKos.com and DemocraticUnderground.com have compiled lists of advertisers and an array of contact information. ...

The efforts thus far have been effective. Several companies have expressed their intent to end advertising campaigns with SBGI affiliates who air the program. One television station, WTXL in Tallahassee Florida, in order to stay clear of any backlash made it clear that they were not owned by SBGI and will not air the attack film.

The outraged Americans show no sign of letting up on Sinclair Broadcasting and as a result the company may face severe financial difficulty well into the future.

Outraged Americans! I like that!

We need to keep our main Sinclair Boycott page in tip-top shape and keep hammering these advertisers! Way to go DU!

2. Soooo....what is the real benefit to being a Bush Whore in this instance?
Unless there are kickbacks, they're going to lose LOTS of money. Good. Fuck 'em.

8. FOLKS, you are making change happen right before your eyes!
Remember these times because it was laziness and apathy that got us in this place to begin with. If democrats had organized like we are today during the Gore election we would not be where we are right now. But what matters is, look at the impact organized people can have on the world! Isn't it beautiful, democracy in action! Voting does the same thing, get a group together voting for the same thing and you have a very loud voice! But remember, it's important to use that loud voice for good and protecting the individual is the most important of all.

I love you DU'rs, you make me so proud to be apart of this era!

11. I just called the station (Fox) in Lexington, Ky. and the owner was
directing all calls to the Sinclair Headquarters. They are going to show the film due to a mandate by their owner. I'm in Louisville so all you Lexington DUers let us know who the ADVERTISERS are so we can boycott them. Also let us know if you all plan a rally or etc.

14. MAKE SURE THEY KNOW you'll be honing in on thier local advertisers...
They can't shift THAT little reality off to Sinclair.

Responsibility comes at all levels....Sinclair, local affiliates, and advertisers.

All will pay if they are complacent.

19. Free speach comes with consequences TROLL!
I believe I learnt that line from watching the freerepulsives!

Seriously freeperboy, Sinclair has a responsibility to the public. They would not be free to show F9/11 and call it "news" in 25% of American markets commercial free, would they? So why is this then OK?

They're getting into the election business, and that means they're fair game. I know desperation has driven them to this despicable move...they've gone all or nothing.

I'm happy to say when we're done with them nothing is what they'll be.

20. Huh? We own the airwaves!
Sinclair has an obligation to use those airways for the public good and interest. What's in it for them? Profit from advertisers.
