Tell me it isn't so, just now on CNN - upcoming report -
America is investing heavily into health care in Mexico. WTF is that? We are making sure that citizens of other nations (don't forget Iraq!) have health care but not Americans? Where is the logic in that? Just looking for a place to increase the deficit without using it for ungrateful 'Mericans? The world has gone mad, we are living in a upside down universe and the warp to the political psyche has gone around the bend.

Well, as long as the rest of the world is healthy and being taken care of who cares if the citizens of the United States are okay?

6. Cryin' out loud, what's with the unsupported stereotypical thinking
here. I'll throw out a bit of information I'm aware of, others can add on with research instead of this off-the-wall crap.

Huntington Hospital, a large private hospital in Pasadena, is in the process of doubling the size of its ER. Part of the reason is that ER's as we all know, are required to see all patients. So the indigent use them as clinics, since there are no clinics where someone without coverage can go for free or even pro-rated care anymore. And since we've been killing off our county budgets here in California with things like prop 13, the county hospital ERs are in a world of grief. And, with the opening of the metro sub/supra way Gold Line from Union Station to Sierra Madre last year, it's easy to get to Huntington Hospital - it's a short walk from the Gold Line stop. SO their ER is really busy now, and really really busy on weekends, when people came from Mexico for health care. They expect that expanding the ER will allow them to keep from getting completely overwhelmed. Therefore, one surmise is that helping out with medical care in Mexico is intended to reduce some of the burden on hospitals here in southern california, and likely in other border cities as well.

Now, doesn't that make a lot more sense than "so the weatlhy won't get STDs when they get whores in Mexico"?

7. I made no stereotypical comments, just wondering why our
government is investing in health care in Mexico before ensuring that every American has health care.

This is a particular concern for me. For the first time in my life (50+ years) I do not have health care as of June 30, 2004. I had always had covered under a spouse's coverage until a divorce, I then exhausted all COBRA benefits (even though the premiums were over 40% of my entire monthly income - I scrapped by and paid every dime). I now have run out of those benefits and due to a health problem the only policy I could find has premiums in excess of 200% of my monthly income. I am self employed, do not qualify for any other programs, pay my taxes in full and on time and yet I do not have nor can I get health insurance. I'm one of those now falling through the cracks. I live in fear something terrible will happen and I'm certainly not getting any preventive or maintenance care at this time. My dog is in the fight.

8. Have you got an url or a clip of the CNN report?
the headline "America investing heavily" sounds like it isn't government, but private corps (I know, try to separate them). In which case, they're supporting work forces for the american factories? Don't know - details, that's where the devil is (or is it God?)

9. Sorry, no. I just caught a brief blip on an upcoming discussion.
I ended up missing the program and was hoping someone heard the program and could explain what they were talking about. What I said in my first post is exactly all I heard. The impression I came away with was the government was investing in health care in Mexico because of illegal aliens coming here - not sure I got it correct, that is why I asked for more info.

10. That makes some sense, although the people coming in to
southern Cal ERs on the weekends aren't illegal or even immigrants. They're just up here for the weekend to get some medical care.
