Kerry should launch a preemptive "You can run but you can't hide" tonight
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 05:21 PM by undercover_brother
Kerry gets the first words tonight because he won the coin toss and chose to get the first question. Wouldn't it be awesome if he stole Bush's favorite new line right away with a "You can run but you can't hide" variation right out of the starting blocks. Like a favorite Teddy Bear, the President would not know what to do without his new found companion.

simplistic rhetoric appeals to many people. Its easy to understand, requires little concentration, and packages complex ideas into neat little word boxes.

Bush will use it. It is a weapon. Kerry should take all of Bush's weapons away, EVERY chance he gets.

If Kerry says it once and first, and never again - Bush will not be able to use it effectively, and appear to be a follower not a leader.

Kerry doesn't even have to "use" the phrase in the same way Bush would. All he has to do is to say "Bush will say that I can run but I can't hide, but the truth is that it is this administration that runs from its mistakes and hides the truth from the American people."

If Kerry steals the words from Bush's mouth, he'll be that much closer to being unscripted, and probably a bit pissed off that he best line was pulled from the game before the starting bell

3. I liked what one DUer said...
You can hide, but you cannot run from your record of the past four years.

4. Kerry should say this....
IF Bush says "You can run but you cannot hide"...
Kerry should say something along this line: "I didn't
hide when this country called on us to serve in Vietnam. I
volunteered"

On the topic of Stem Cell research, Kerry should ask this simple
question: "Do you want your granchildren to die of the
same diseases that killed your grandparents?"

5. Great idea! The 'run-hide' line sounds like Stupid's ONLY personal contribution
to the script Rove and Hughes must have made him try to memorize. Stupid will be LIVID if Kerry "steals" his line and uses it, slightly transformed, in a sensible context, unlike Stupid's past use of the line. Stupid will be tempted to ad-lib, and we all know what's likely to happen when Stupid extemporizes.

7. Would be great if Kerry called him on every catch phrase he uttered
tonight. Ask him for details of what he means.
