Germany won't rule out sending troops to Iraq and they like Kerry's ideas

 snipped...
"Berlin has refused to comment on the outcome of the U.S. election, but Mr. Struck's comments are significant as Mr. Kerry has argued that he would be able to draw in countries to work in Iraq that opposed the war. "

I hope Kerry quotes this when Bush tries to be smug talking about the "Global Test"

1. He better not bring it up...
Cancellor Schroeder already came out and said Germany will not now or in the future commit troups.

Although, being a real German myself, I think the Germans and Europeans are itching to start at least new talks. They love the idea of a summit.

4. I disagree
The wording needs to be careful, but what the Germans said was that they like the idea of having a summit like Kerry said. The French mentioned something about helping in reconstruction.

This all goes towards Bush poking fun at a global test.

Kerry just needs to say that they liked the idea of the summit and are open minded to various ideas. As far as the statement with the french...one word...Halliburton (we need to share if we want any help!)

2. That could backfire
Of course, this is exactly what Kerry can deliver, and Bush can't, but playing it up too heavy during the campaign could give the appearance of Germany manipulating our elections. There could be a backlash.

If I were Kerry, I'd avoid the temptation of mentioning specific "endorsements" like this.

3. This would be such sweet vindication
If Germany & France immediately agree to send troops to Iraq after Kerry is elected. Not that I would blame them if they didn't, but regardless of the fact that it's *'s fault that we are in this mess, it is quickly degrading to the point where the whole world will soon be affected, so it is really in their best interest to get involved as soon as possible.

But, AFTER * loses the election.

5. huh?
Please explain how it would be in the best interest of the Germans to get involved in this mess?

If you insist on ruling an empire, just get on with it, we certainly can't stop you. But leave us ordinary Germans alone, we don't want any part of it, thank you very much, we have had enough of that already.

7. To prevent future attacks
If Iraq is on the path to becoming an incubator for terrorists, then it is in the best interest of all western countries to prevent that from happening. Otherwise those terrorists could attack anywhere in the future, including Germany.

Note that I said, "best interest" and not "responsibility."
