have a decent place to live, to have sufficient food in the pantry, to fill up their gas tanks?

Money first. Economic security next. Then education.

1. Yeah, when you're in your forties and your job
gets outsourced, you have a family to support and a mortgage, you're supposed to go back to school? He's so out of touch with reality!

Education? Tell that to a 45 year old who has years invested into a company, to go back to school and compete with 20 year olds!
