Kind of dodging the question I would say.

5. literally, it's a chemical test
using a specially treated piece of paper, if you dip it in an acidic liquid, it will turn one color, or in a "base" liquid, it will turn another, or if it's a neutral liquid (water) it won't change color

euphemistically, it's a political term for whether someone goes one way or another on a political position

Sort of like the "global test"

7. A political litmus test...
is using one issue, to the possible exclusion of all others, as the go/no go determinant of a candidate.

Say Kerry uses abortion as his litmus test for selecting an attorney general. AG candidate Jones believes abortion should be left to the states, so Kerry ignores the fact that AGC Jones supports execution for marijuana users and believes child porn should be decriminalized.

6. Do you realize that, like Reagan, he has never been able to

"spare the time" to address the thousands of pro-lifers who ahow up in Washington every January to protest abortion? Both of those "pro-life" Republicans basically phoned in their "support." (To be technically correct, I think they sent videos, may be doing live feeds now.)

It should be obvious to anyone that a pResident who actually cared about abortion would attend the big DC march. There's never been a good reason why Bush* couldn't attend.
