I could see Kerry's Strategy from the Outset
and it was brilliant.

The election is essentially tied, and the difference is women voters. they should be ours by 20%, yet were only up about 5%

The minimum wage answer was brilliant, "$3,800 for women in the work place".

The affirmative action answer "Many people don't realize that this in not just a race question, but gender also. It helps women, who only make 78 cents on the dollar compared to men".

On choice, "I will never appoint a justice to the supreme court who will overturn Roe v. Wade. The choice is between a woman, her God, and her doctor."

Again and again, references aimed at why women belong in the Democratic Party. Assault weapons ban, health care, early child education, after school programs. This debate for Kerry was an invitation to those women who are leaning to Bush or still undecided, to come home to the political party of their roots.

It was a brilliant strategy, aimed exactly where it should be, on the issues that really matter.

His talk about jobs that are now at less income, or the number of manufacturing jobs lost in Ohio (235,000), or 5 million more Americans without Health benefits all crossed gender lines, and appealed to all Americans, but he really hit a Home Run with women, IMHO.

1. It could've been more
but i'm glad he targeted women, but also mentioned black voters and the unemployment among black men. I have heard lots of african american folks wanting to hear their issues adressed too.

3. Kerry was great as usual
freeps wanted him to coming out foaming at the mouth. Then he would have been criticized for being overly aggressive and must fear that he is losing. He had to appear presidential, calm, knowledgeable, and in control. He did it and did it well. Don't drink the kool-aid. Kerry won this one too!

6. Even more brilliant ...
If that was the strategy, it might be even more brilliant in light of the fact that it's possible the audience tonight was skewed toward women. Not to generalize, but I'm thinking the baseball might have drawn more men. Sorry for the stereotype, but it's just a theory...

8. Well, more East Coast men, anyway.
Out here in the rest of the country, we don't really give a shit.
