People looking for a Bush blow-up were looking at the wrong half of the screen. What we saw tonight is someone who looked like what Americans imagine a President should be (besides being Martin Sheen).
Kerry was confident and clearly in charge the entire night. He smiled at Bush's responses - not in a smarmy way, but in a "this guy is toast" kind of way. Kerry spoke with tremendous authority and seemed to be an inexhaustible source of information regarding the concerns of the American people. Bush seemed...exhaustible.
I watched it on C-Span, so I don't know how the cameras played it on other stations, but the height advantage played in a weird way - Bush's screen was dominated by the lecturn, while it was all Kerry on the other half - looking pretty fit in his suit, btw.
Anyone who has ever dreaded the Kerry perma-smile had no need to fear tonight - it was, surprisingly, Bush who flashed the perma-smile. Kerry's smiles were big and genuine (thank God).
There may not have been the rhetorical fireworks of the other nights, but it didn't matter - Kerry was leaning on top of Bush, he didn't need to throw ad hominem punches anymore.
Folks, I think we may have gotten ourselves a new Democratic occupant for the Oval Office.

Kerry's height is gonna win this thing. As shallow and stupid as that sounds, looking at the post debate pictures, the thought just permeated my mind. Kerry was way over Bush's head on substance, but it's the pictures of Kerry towering over Bush in height that is going to pull the decisive win!

Bush's hair reminds me of Teller (of 'Penn & Teller' - no offense, Mr Teller.. I love your entertainment!)

5. Kerry has done a splendid job for us in all of the debates... |

You're right. He is presidential. Bush looks like an awkward hillbilly next to Kerry.

It's been such a long four years, and boy it feels good to have Kerry up there doing so well and looking so presidential.
