The fact that the pundits think that Kerry bringing up Cheney's daughter's
homosexuality is a bad thing, just goes to show that those same people still think homosexuality is a bad thing.

Does that make sense?

What I'm trying to say is, why is it a low blow to bring up Cheney's daughter being gay? It's not like he said Cheney's daughter was a drug abuser or a murderer or a child molester.

Scarborugh just said "He was trying to embarrass the Cheney family"

If you TRULY believe that there is nothing wrong, shameful or sinful in being gay, then how is it embarassing?

This is really bugging me....Maybe I just don't get it.

1. Thank you. They find it "embarassing" to have to admit they have a
daughter "like that"

Must be that compassionate conservative thing. I know my mom proudly proclaims I am her gay son and she doesn't care who hears it or who likes it. She is not embarassed one bit!

3. Spin
There just trying to find something to latch onto to try to keep this debate in the it was a draw or slight win for Kerry area. Kerry was respectful and did not dwell on it or use it disrespectfully. Besides that if the Republican's can harp on how much money Theresa Heinz has then why can't we even comment on the fact that Cheney has a gay daughter.

5. Exactly.
It's as if the pundits think the Cheneys should have the right to "hide" Mary away and not talk about her if they so choose. (And apparently they do.)

7. It was the MODERATOR who brought it up
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 11:33 PM by LynnTheDem
NOT Edwards.

And in 2000 debates it was CHENEY who talked OPENLY AND BY NAME about about his GAY DAUGHTER.

8. This is red meat to the base
Bush did far better than in any other debate, this was close

Hence why they need to energize the base... and becuase it was as close as it was (I would give Bush points for improvement folks), the comentators needs to do something with the base

How is it embarrassing? I have a lesbian cousin I adore (Hi Karen!) and I have a bisexual uncle who is my favorite uncle in my whole family (Hi Glenn!). I love them both and have never been embarrassed of them. I can't imagine why I would be. Karen is smart and HILARIOUS and very successful and Glenn is brilliant and a bit shy but soooo engaging when you get to know him, such a gentle giant of a man.

WTF???

10. Cheney's was in IA
Cheney's was in IA and he was trying to get people to like him,So he talk about his daughter being gay.
The News for Weeks said how nice it was for Cheney to bring up his daughter being gay.I think this is
all bullshit to say Kerry was trying to make Cheney daughter look bad.Kerry care more about Cheney daughter
than Bush and Cheney do.
