Did Scarborough just call Ron Reagan gay?
Scarborough said that he would be horrified if a Democrat attacked President Reagan for Ron's choices for drugs and ballet.

What was that????????

used to be a ballet dancer. Scarborough was just using that as an example - and in fact, it was a good one. Reagan is STILL attacked daily over on DU for having been a ballet dancer. I guess being a cheerleader is much more butch.

3. it was a personal attack
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 11:20 PM by grasswire
...and Reagan addressed it as such. "Down, big fellow...." he said to Scarborough, protesting.

It was a personal attack.

If I were Reagan, I would have said "Yes, and I am always flummoxed when people accuse you of killing your aide."

2. I refuse to watch MSNBC until they fire Scarborough
he is a worthless piece of shit hate-monger and has no business being on anything remotely claiming to be journalistic.

Might as well have Stacy Koon covering the NAACP

4. He was with the Joffrey Ballet here in NYC, and was a really fine dancer.
Ron and Nancy weren't pleased with their son's chosen profession, and seemed to be worried that people thought Ron Jr. might be gay. Ron left the Joffrey.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Reagan

Reagan grew up in Los Angeles and then Sacramento, while his father was Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. He attended Yale University but dropped out in 1976 after one semester. At that time, his father was running in the Republican Presidential primary against incumbent Gerald Ford, and Reagan disliked the attention he received at Yale. He joined the Joffrey Ballet in pursuit of a lifelong dream to become a ballet dancer.

President Reagan apparently found it embarrassing that his son was a ballet dancer. Time magazine wrote in 1980: "It is widely known that Ron's parents have not managed to see a single ballet performance of their son, who is clearly very good, having been selected to the Joffrey second company, and is their son nonetheless. Ron talks of his parents with much affection. But these absences are strange and go back a ways."

14. I remember Ron Sr. telling reporters,
"Don't worry, we raised him to be all-boy." I wonder how he managed to do that. Maybe he should have let other parents in on the secret.

That's right, he was the only one on the panel of "experts" that understood Kerry used the example to point out the hypocrisy of the administration.

liberals and demcrats don't care if * was a cheerleader(well...at least i don't). it's an attack on the idea that bush is such a 'manly man' that Republicans prop him up as. They are the only ones that will look down on that.

He bullies everyone else into taking his position. Everytime I think I like him, he pulls something off like he did tonight.

20. I rather think...
twas Scarborough who revealed himself. Apparently his 'candor' is limited. We still don't know why his aide died so mysteriously and why that prompted him to change careers. Joe's outraged about any reference to Mary Cheney though, eh? He ought to be more careful walking through minefields.

16. Instead of this BS...
Why don't they explain to us what all of the unemployed educated people in this country should do? The only response I heard from Bush was that people should attend community college and get educated.

I don't assume that he is indeed mentally disabled.
He should extend the same courtesy to Ron Reagan

Fucking hell! What has happened to manners in this country?

21. The Repugs are just trying to blow this out of proportion because
their candidate for President is a stupid, drooling imbecile whose incoherent blather just revealed him on national televison yet once again to be the incompetent, waste-of-time moron that he actually is.

Kerry should apologize to the hypocritical Cheneys when they tell America why thier daughter was not on stage. The republicans can't even level with themselves much less the world.
