1. I like it, but only if the entire country votes on it
If only Colorado passes it, essentially we'll only have +/-1 EV.

I'm voting NO this time.

2. In the big picture, yes. This year? Hell no.
I think Colorado can go kerry; I want him to have all 9 of our votes.

BUT... I want the proportional system all over the country.

It's the one issue I'm having a hell of a time deciding on.

4. Bad idea. Worst. Idea. Ever.
1. This year, it tactically gives Bush 4 EV. If it passes, and Kerry wins the state, Bush gets 4. If it passes, and Bush wins the state, the Supreme Court outlaws it on an article 3 challenge and Bush takes 9 EV.

2. The states where this type of referendum could pass are mostly those who follow the "Oregon System" of government. They are, you guessed it, mostly west coast states, mostly "blue states". If the West Coast goes to this, we've just lost 30-40 electoral votes.

6. I am worried about the challenge in the Supreme Court

Hasn't Owens threatened to veto it?

Policat said +/- 1 or a 5/4 split. What would it take for a 3rd party to win 1 EV? I think this is why MOST people want to support it, is to give a 3rd party a chance.

I hadn't thought about blue vs red states. You are correct. RED states would never do this.
