Poll question: Who was the best moderator?
Of all the debates (including the VP debate), who was the best moderator?

Jim Lehrer for asking good questions, but even he let Bush get away
with breaking the rules.

1. While I had some problems
with Lehrer in '00, I thought he was the best by far this year.

4. 3rd
I agree. He seemed like he was in much better control of the debate than he was in 2000.

2. I didn't see Gibson's, but I think Lehrer did very well
Gwen Ifill was a disaster, unfortunately.

I keep hoping that I'll be impressed with Gwen Ifill when I see her on PBS, but I never am.

6. I dunno about the best but Schieffer was the hands-down worst!
He gave Bush more opportunities to respond to Kerry and threw his golf buddy * softballs all night. It was laughable.

7. Lehrer had problems as well, but he was the best this election.
Given his poor performance in 2000, a passable turn as lead moderator was the least he could do.

Bob Schieffer was fairer that I thought he would be.

10. Lehrer was the best
Charles Gibson allowed Bush to go nuts, though I'm not sure if there was a graceful way for him to get Bush to obey the rules.

Bob Schieffer forgot to ask about the environment and energy policy. Thanks for trying to clear up that "Roe vs. Wade" non-answer from Bush, but I would have rather had a question about some other topic.

Gwen Ifill was the worst of them all. Just awful.

13. I'm with you on the environment. It is disgraceful that

Schieffer didn't have a question about it.

Ditto with energy. But you know those good ol' Texas boys have to stick together taking care of the energy cartel. And so that takes care of the environment too.

12. I think it was a tie between Lehrer and Gibson so
I voted for Gibson because he is getting clobbered. I think he was much better than Schieffer.

14. Bob Scheiffer...
I was thinking about this during the debate, and I was very impressed with Bob Scheiffer's moderation.

Not only were some of his questions solidly bi-partisan and often hard(ish) hitting, but he also was the only one to ask an actual followup question.

I don't think anyone did a better job than Scheiffer.

15. Lehrer best, Schieffer biggest disappointment, Ifill the worst.
Gibson better than expected (I think I had him confused with Britt Hume, or whoever that creepy FOX guy is)
