Bush's solution for unemployed high tech workers
Did I get this straight? Let's see -- you were a hard-working ambitious and cautious young man or woman during the Clinton adminstration, when America led the world in high tech, and you went to a 4 year university and worked very very very hard to get a valuable degree in technology, which you had been told was critically needed in America .

Then bbbzhhhhiiiiit! Ooops, industry vanished in less than a year!

So -- after you put yourself through college, you're unemployable, because the cost of living in, say, San Francisco, exceeds that in Bangalore.

So -- His Chimperial Highness optimistic tells you that you can prepare for "the jobs of the 21st century" by enrolling in your neighborhood community college. By taking night classes after your shift at McDonald's? And what exactly are the 21st century jobs that you are retooling yourself for? He didn't specify.

Anyone know?

Mercenaries? Cannon fodder? Body guard to Karzai? Collection agent (although India is moving ahead here)?

What the hell should my highly skilled techie friends be retooling themselves for?

3. Additional Student Financial Aid? Not forthcoming, sorry...
Financial aid for grad students is almost non-existent. You aren't eligible for a Pell Grant either.

4. Weren't you paying attention?
Nobody with a degree has lost their job.

And even if you did have a degree then it must not be very good. Don't fret, because your commuinty college will take care of you-so you don't need a pell grant. . .

Silly unemployed college educated still looking for a job in a technology field simpleton. . .

8. Selling aluminum cans on Ebay, maybe?
Exactly.

Who the heck is he talking to? He totally is blind to the formerly highly skilled, well degreed, hard working middle class, now displaced without a place to go.

I know a guy who, after working 20 years for a tech firm, was made the following offer -- either you can leave and starve, or we can hire you back again at the new starting wage.

Dubya loves to smile broadly and laugh heartily at how the market was overvalued back in Clinton times. We simply have to adjust to the notion that we workers don't mean shit anymore. We were just all overpaid, for our 80 hour weeks, our sacrifice. What silly children we were! He has to make America competitive to attract business, therefore Americans must find a way to live on wages suited to the cost of living in Bangalore.

5. Their problem is that they got left behind
in elementary school education. They were passed on to higher grades even though they didn't learn to read, write, add or subtract.

The obvious solution W is getting at is to send them back to elementary school and get it right this time.

I think that would probably work for my mother who has a PhD and lost her job a couple of years ago and hasn't been able to find another one. Who knew that the solution was so simple?

9. If only
If only your Mom learned how to subtract, she could be working in one of the jobs of he 21st century.

Who the HELL is he talking about? Your Dr Mom is going to go to a community college to retool herself for the current needs of America? Huh?

Truly -- Bush truly has contempt for real intellectual achievement. It's like he wishes to debase those of true understanding and achievement, and install an aristocracy of wackos and shitheads. It's an old confederate thing, the plantation mentality.

Another side effect -- he's SO anti-science, so ideologically driven, that we are going to have a REAL and PROFOUND brain drain in the US, the way that Nazi Germany did back in the 30s. Anyone who thinks this bodes well for a real, important future for America is smoking bananas.

Reagan was wacky enough when he said , If a man loses his leg, then he can take a job as a toll collector in a parking garage.

Andhell, we haven't even mentioned those poor young men who have been hideously maimed in Iraq -- what the hell kind of future do they have awaiting them?

6. Actually I thought his plan was more inclusive than that. That basically
if you were unemployed, you were just too stupid and needed some training. You didn't necessarily have to be an unemployed tech worker to qualify for the bushs* McJobs program, just be unemployed!

16. you're supposed to go back in time and get a better 6th grade education
according to Bush.

When Bush was babbling on about this shit, I thought "wow, I just watched Bush lose the election."

He has absolutely no idea what outsourcing is all about. The man is completely out of touch -- he can't even fake it!!
