CNN has video of Republicans admitting to thrashing Dem registration forms |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 01:44 AM by zaj
Did anyone else see this? Video clip was on headline news, looked to be a local Portland interviewer.
Was a young black kid who was asked if he was only taking Republican registration forms and throwing out the Dem ones by the reporter... he said:
(paraphrase)"I work for the Republicans, I'm just trying to keep my job... I'm a Democrat, but I'm just trying to keep my job working for the Republicans."(/paraphrase)
It's the most amazing video I've ever seen.
It totally encapsulates the entire election and the entire last 4 years into a 15 second sound bite. Sad to say that it would be the best campaign commercial the dems could possibly run, becuase it was so honest, and touched on all of the major issues of the campaign.

6. I saw that clip this afternoon on MSNBC |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 01:45 AM by AwsieDooger
No doubt it would have played more frquently on a different day, minus the debate.
The young black kid said he is paid for registering Republicans but not Democrats. He said he is a Democrat, and his facial expression and body language indicated some regret, but he ended with "I'm in this for the money."
(on edit: the DUer in an earlier post is correct. That clip was shown on MSNBC with Olberman, not necessarily on CNN. But Lou Dobbs did do a piece on this story)

12. Great story, but not the sound bite I was talking about... |
|
But it did have a clip of the kid from Portland I am talking about. The young black kid in a white T-shirt.
The clip of his interview is worth finding/posting...

That's why no matter how excited we feel after these awesome debate performances, we still have to think of the other major hurdles we need to get through in the next 19 days or so..
How many votes will inaccurately and intentionally NOT be counted?
Will the creator of Die Bold be toasting George Bush somewhere on November 3rd?

11. Someone needs to fucking go to jail over this. This is fascism |
|
I've always avoided that particular F word in this forum before. Bad as it is, giving tax cuts to jillionaires and outsourcing jobs are not fascism. Lying to the press, covering up your records, slandering your opponents, rampant cronyism, and starting vanity wars for political gain are as much a part of democracy's legacy as they are from fascism.
But using the power of the state to muscle your opponents out of voting in the election? That's textbook fascism. Using state power to take over an election is what makes one a fascist. The people who did this need to go to prison for a long long time. This is treason. This is the sort of crime that reminds me why I support the death penalty.

15. Registering voters should be mandated to an independent body. |

We're going to see a lot more of this. They're desperate now, especially after last night.

Doesn't make a bit of difference who won the debates if people who think they're registered to vote show up on Nov. 2 and are told they can't vote.

24. My little registration effort... |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 10:36 AM by HFishbine
...yeilded 22 new voters. 2 of them were Republican. One of the two was from a guy who lives in another county, which I didn't notice until after he turned in his form. I looked up the address for his county's board of elections, put a stamp on his form, addressed it and mailed it to the proper office.
The other was a last minute registration on the last day to register -- after the local board of elections had closed, but early enough that I could still get it postmarked before the deadline. I put a stamp on that one and delivered it to a post office with a 7:00 p.m. pickup.
I'm not afraid of democracy, stupid repukes.
