6. you've been pretty critical of Friedman
and rightly so...

9. Yeah his give war a chance shit got old
and his book The LExus and the Olive Tree really pissed me off....perhaps he might go back and retract it now that he's seen the downside to HIS version of globalization where we step all over the world's toes and make them hate us.

4. I live in Stuy Town, if you're familiar with the complex..
(eastside bet 14th & 23rd.) They have actually been searching cars/taxis which drive into the complex, making them stop and open their trunks, asking where they are going. It's private property so I assume it's legal for them to do that, but it is totally bizarre.
This has been going on since that September 'threat' baloney was announced.

8. A really wonderful column.
I have had huge differences with Freidman at times.

But when he is good, he is very, very good!

18. I've always respected him
But then my only real experience with his writing was "From Beruit to Jerusalem" which seemed to me to be very balanced.

14. born again non-coolAid drinker like a born again non-smoker
Sometimes the born again people from the dark side -- are stronger advocates for the light side.

I've never smoked my husband is a former smoker and he is much more vocal about the smell of stinky stale smoke etc.

I was raised by a fundamentalist mother -- and I could see what is happening now and tried to warn liberals (and moderates) that the born again fundamentalists right wingers were on the raise and that they wanted to take over the government.

The born agains from the dark side give me hope -- because some of the cult members on the fringe might listen to them.

This was a B+ article -- he is going in the right direction and is getting better.

Thanks for posting this -- gives me hope that we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

15. Sounds like buyer's remorse.
There is nothing that will ever induce me to respect Tom Freidman.

17. It was Iraq that woke him up
I remember when he went over there the first time literally expecting flowers thrown at his feet, and the rude awaking that followed. He became increasingly alarmed at the fuck-up that was unfolding over there and said so.

I guess he's officially off the Koolaid, now.

Excellent Op-ed.
