I hope I don't arouse any freeper suspicions with this post, but I'm really worried about the "Kerry attacking Cheney's daughter" issue growing legs. I heard that skunk Imus bitching about it this morning, as well as the Fox morning clowns (yeah, I know) and it worries me that this could become something all the late-night comedians joke about, gradually reversing the consensus Kerry victory view. Is it also wrong that I am really pissed at Kerry for making such a dumb move that accomplished nothing, especially after Edwards was ridiculed on SNL for doing the same thing? He seems to have a sort of tone-deafness on some of these things ... he keeps saying things that easily play into the fuckers' hands ... global test, the terrorist nuisance thing. It doesn't matter that he's right; people are easily manipulated. I hope I'm wrong ... and I have a good record on that. I was underwhelmed by the first and third debate, and I thought the second was the best I've ever seen Kerry, so there you go.

And it's transparent what they're doing--acting all shocked and offended that Kerry used her as an example to address the topic at hand. It's not like he outed her. What's the "attack" in what he said? He was forthright, stating a fact. They're just tipping us to how THEY think, that a lesbian daughter is something to be ashamed of, and therefore never to be mentioned.

and I don't think the remark was meant in anything but the way it was uttered. However, I also don't think Al Gore was making up stories about his disaster relief visits to acquire that famous "James Lee Whit" magic, to paraphrase Franken, but that's how the media whores spinned it. Do I think Bush will go around uttering your hypothetical quote? Of course not. But he could express the same idea without pissing off his fascist base: "My opponent is the kind of person who takes cheap shots at other people's daughters." And of course, the bigger risk is the media people, especially the pop culture media people, who will have no such constraints.
