2. It only stays inside pool if we aggressively knock it down as desperation. |

Let no charge go unanswered. This stupid-ass non-issue cannot be allowed to gain any traction- the GOP is brilliant at making something out of nothing.

8. You can't ignore GOP strategy. |

If this is the tactic they're going to use to spin last night's defeat into a victory, we have to address it.
Not angrily. Not furiously. Not out of panic. But 10-12 Democratic operatives mentioning on radio/TV today something like,
"I really don't understand what the big deal is about the Mary Cheney comments. I thought Senator Kerry was very respectful and did an excellent job of underscoring the complexity of this issue. It's something that the Cheney family has dealt with on a personal basis, and I think Senator Kerry wanted to recognize the affection and love that the Vice-President has for his daughter. But considering that Mary Cheney is openly gay, I'm not sure I understand what the Republicans are so angry about. This seems to be an act of desperation to me, and I think it's unfortunate that Mary Cheney is caught in the middle of this."
...is all it would take to knock it down.

They're obviously hiding behind it with their sham outrage. And nobody's buying it. Andrew Sullivan himself gave the remark his blessing -- and he's been a consistent Bush toady.
It looks like Damage Control, and smells like Desperation. The Republican Neo-Cons are like a poker player who's got nothing to bluff with except a hand full of crap and who has a history of cheating. "Down and Dirty" doesn't begin to describe it.
Let the whine about the sensitivities of the same people they would casually condemn to hell. We all know that it's a pompous bluff. Bush has gone down, and they know it. All that remains is for the face-saving gestures and CYA destruction of documents and computer files.

woman was arguing with (aka: informing) a Bush supporter. She said she thought Edwards comments about Mary Cheney were uncalled for.
It is a distraction and I don't see what positive effect it could have for K/E aside from turning off some puritanical Cheney supporters who didn't know this. Eg. de-motivating part of the RW base.
