1. In fact, he didn't do a fucking thing to renew it...
Good job by Kerry on making him wear it.

"Republicans and Democrats were against the assault weapon ban, people of both parties."
Which is flat out horseshit...

"A poll released Monday by the non-partisan National Annenberg Election Survey at the University of Pennsylvania found that 68 percent of Americans and 57 percent of people with a gun in their household support extending the ban."

2. AWB is history! Thank God! What a useless law.
If Kerry pounds on it, he'll lose even more of the gun vote.

AK47s are not now available. He was wrong. They are controlled under the National Firearms Act of 1934 and by FOPA of 1986. Machine guns have nothing to do with the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. The AWB basically prevented rifles from having certain features. It eliminated the following from many rifles:

1. Bipod/bayonet attachment point.
2. Threads on a barrel.
3. Flash redirectors.
4. Adjustable stocks.

The AWB of 1994 was an utter and complete failure. It would behoove Senator Kerry to not further alienate gun owners by talking about it.

3. Yes, this is the guy who carps about "leadership"
all the time and can't manage to lead on this issue. What a hypocritical wimp. Or as someone else on DU says, what a punk-ass bitch.

4. He can't even get his own party to follow him...
Says it all, doesn't it?
