Kerry will be covered live today addressing AARP--total mistake for W |
|
You are going to see the real "deal" closed today for Kerry. Bush not showing up for the AARP convention (I thought he gave them the miraculous drug benefit in Medicare)is fatal. He would be there strutting and posing if he thought they would be cheering. Bush's handlers know he was going to get a cold and maybe even hostile reaction. These people at such a convention are real activists. So, Bush is sending Laura. These activists don't won't Ms. Fluff. They want help.
You can bet millions of seniors are going to be tuning into this today. Kerry will walk away with the elderly vote afterward. Only the wealthy seniors will support Bush and even many of them would fight hand to hand combat for their Medicare. When I saw that Bush will not attend, I knew he is conceding the senior vote. And that makes Florida even more interesting. Why would you do something this stupid unless you are assured that Florida is in your backpocket (geee--think so??).

3. I thought AARP had gone over to the Republicans |
|
AARP bought into the Bush Medicare plan (designed to enrich the drug companies, of course), and lobbied to have it passed. So why would Bush get a hostile reception?

Sr. Management made decision to support the Bush Prescription Drug card debacle. Vast majority of members did not.

the hell out of it and pushing for imported drugs. They realized they were screwed and so do the elderly. The drug manufacturers instantly booted up the price and left the seniors paying the same thing they always did with promises of even more and more increases in the medication. The AARP has been really pushing it's members on it for most of this year. They are not a happy group and know that the only ones the benefited were the drug companies. Elderly are now concerned that he's going to dump Medicare into the private sector where only the wealthy will ever have any medical coverage. Believe me, they are not anti-Kerry. And believe me Bush would be there strutting around like a proud pig on the day after the debate if he wasn't afraid of being stoned by them!!!
As to time and network. Saw a shot of the room on CNN (or MSNBC??) and they said it would be covered live today but didn't give a time. I'm sure at some point they will start promoting it. So stay tuned.

so gullible and short sighted! AARP lost more than a few members over that.

those remaining wanted to hear from both - but AARP could not guarantee that Bush would not be booed on camera - so Bush meets with someone else (a Gov's group) today.

9. Drug companies help pay AARP's bills. |

So management supported the Rethugs. The vast majority of the AARP did not like the medicare plan.

21. Right-He CAN'T go there no pre-screening no loyalty oaths |
|
When the Medicare bill was proposed and we heard the immediate aftermath from seniors and THEN we found out that W "Wal-Marted" the price tag (from $400 B to a low low $395B-actually $540) I said that this is not the crowd you want to get a fake price over on. Not just those on fixed incomes but seniors look for every dime they can save and the real cost of things almost like their favorite hobby.
W can't go there he will be openly booed.

12. About time and network |
|
I saw it on CNN this morning (or maybe MSNBC??--sure if one does it the other will too). They showed the room where it will be held and said they will televise it live but didn't mention a time. Keep checking and maybe someone will catch it. Usually the start advertising it coming up about a hour before.

14. Don't expect much from the mediawhores |
|
watch for this. It will be interesting to see if they allow Kerry's entire speech free of talking head, or shark, attack, or Laci Peterson interruption. My bet is they will screw up the audio of Kerry, since that ALWAYS seems to happen, and they will cut away from him once he starts tearing into chimpyboy.
Of course when the Stepford* comes on expect full uninterrrupted coverage.

19. They have said nothing about covering Laura. I don't think they |
|
will. The wives don't rate that kind of coverage. CNN may do fade in and outs but I'm sure MSNBC will cover it too and will cover the whole thing. After all, the campaigns now are the big news and this is a great time filler. Fox, I'm sure, will not cover Kerry but cover the Ms. Fluff. CNN and MSNBC have covered addresses to the Guard conventions, etc. They know they have a lot of retirees who are home with remote in hand (while the rest of the country is at work)and I'm sure they are going to try to pander to them.

answers and Bush would only answer with lengthy explanations and in not one case would give a support/oppose answer ...which was how the questions were posed...Very interesting.
