The candidates made the statements THEMSELVES, in front of everyone, in front of their opponents, giving them a chance to respond.

Compare this to the REAL dirty tricks usually committed by republicans. Anonymous attacks, or attacks by surrogates, which Bush and company disingenuously disassociate themselves from, at the same time they promote the smears.

Swiftboats is the obvious example.

as a "dirty trick". Kerry didn't "out" Ms. Cheney, she has very publicly announced her sexual preference. The only people who would think that referring to someone as being a lesbian was an attack are bigots, and that is obviously the group that Lynn Cheney is appealing to at her daughter's expense.

and not only was she already out, she is an employee of the B/C campaign! They've used her as a public figure to do outreach to the gay community.

I find it appalling that the media goes on and on about this, but completely ignores the fact that Mary and her partner did not appear with the Cheney family on the stage at the RNC.
